Jamals has been a fixture in Jericho since I can rember I am now 55.
During the lockdown I visited many times and was very pleased with my takeaways.
But now the restaurant is open to eat in again.
I visited on Thursday day 8th of July 2020, the owners were very glad to see us, the service was as good as ever and the food was even better than ever! I had a very spicy chicken vindaloo served with a chot potty and a boiled rice and a garlic nan. It was all beautifully cooked full of delicate flavours and spices and absolutely delicious. My friend woosed out and had a Madras which was of the lamb variety, and was equally tasty.
I would thoroughly recommend a visit as soon as you can, all the safety precautions have put in place to make it a safe venue to eat.
And as always it was great value for money.

We drive all the way from London with our kids and we were not disappointed. I’m a journalist and have been to restaurants all over the world and this little Indian gem was truly authentic. The food was absolutely delicious and perfect. It didn’t feel greasy like many Indian restaurants. The staff were incredibly hospitable and friendly to our kids. We ordered a diverse selection of items and every single dish was cooked to perfection. Had a brilliant time and they even gave our kids ice-cream on the house - it put a big fat smile on their face.

We have been to this establishment several times and always enjoy a good meal and friendly service. The food is great, we usually go for the mix starter so we can have a bit of all the best options and then choose a few curries and sides but we always try a biryani as well - the biryanis here are some of the best we have had. The prices are very reasonable for the quality of the food and the staff are always friendly and attentive.
Would recommend to anyone looking for a nice indian meal.

We have dined previously at Jamal's and were happy. But on this visit, although the food was good as was the service and quiet, clean surroundings we were disappointed to be charged more than the clear price of dishes on the menu. When challenged, the waiter told us prices had been increased and menus had mostly been amended with a pen. However the menu we were shown at our table had not been amended - and neither had the menus displayed by the door of the restaurant. We were given a refund but left with the impression this might be a tactic used on certain customers. One member of the party is American and might have been assumed to be a naive tourist who could be charged more. This was very disappointing as we have long enjoyed Jamal's and never had a previous problem there. We would advise anyone to try to retain their menu so they have it as evidence when they pay their bill! Otherwise they, too, may find they are overcharged!

Best place we have boked a table to dine in. The staff were very friendly & made sure we were all safe & kept our distance. The food came out very quick & it was very tasty well presented just as we like it. All the dishes tasted very fresh. We will be going back very soon.

We came to Jamals for lunch the dishes we ordered were tasty, fresh &hot. All our food came out quickly. The service was great (my wife was allowed to sample a dish before she placed her order). The atmosphere was lovely. The social distancing was met & the restaurant was very clean. The price was perfect too.
We will be back again definitel. We never tried the cuisine at Jamal's before but we were very impressed.👍

When a waiter brings the bill and lies to your face about having served a dish it is impossible to give the restaurant anything other than a bad review. Had he made even a semblance of checking with this colleague I would have forgiven him. But, to argue with a customer that the customer was wrong is plain stupidity on the part of a waiter.
The restaurant was busy with a large party for a festive lunch and could have politely tuned us away. As it was they didn't even bother to explain that there would be a half hour wait for service. To make life easy for the kitchen we ordered the set menu - 4 courses according to their web site, but nothing about the number of courses on the printed menu. What came was a plate of mixed starers; one lamb and once chicken dish and two different types of nan. No rice!
The food was excellent and the ambiance is fine with proper napery, not paper serviettes. The lassis were also good quality and not too thin.
So sorry, won't be returning because of the poor service. Eating out is not just all about the food.

We visited Jamals after hearing some good reviews from friends of ours and we love Indian food so we went to check it out. The staff as we entered were amazing and so polite. They have signs everywhere reminding us of social distancing and sanitiser placed everywhere. We ordered a mixed platter and the waiter that took our order recommended us to try the chilli chicken as a main. The food was amazing! Honestly I have tried a lot of Indian restaurant across the UK and this was up there with the best! I highly recommend everyone to try this place out! Credit to the staff and the chef!

Absolutely diabolical and disrespectful visit. A group of us had booked for what we thought would be a lovely meal yet were met with suprise and discourteous customer service. On arrival we were met with surprise yet we'd booked in advance days before. The place was empty yet this was on a Saturday evening. There was absolutely no smells of Indian cuisine from the kitchen. When seated we were asked for our drinks order, when this arrived the lager was off and had a cider taste. When we questioned this we were basically told that if we didn't like it we cold leave which we did. We returned to the Jude the Obscure where we enjoyed a lovely meal service and hospitality. I will never darken the steps of this third rate eating Indian establishment again. When we passed the restaurant at 10-30 it was totally empty which goes to show how poor an establishment this is. AVOID AT ALL COST.

A flyer came through our door this week for Jamal’s Indian Restaurant/takeaway. It was awful overcooked and cold. We had onion Bajis and they were so overcooked and tasted old. Ali Gobi was cold and cauliflower was so overcooked you couldn’t see it. Chicken Tikka was so overcooked I could hardly swallow the chicken. Chicken was okay in the Dansak but the lentils were awful and the naan bread was burnt. The rice and cucumber riata were the best of all of it. Certainly not worth the money

We were staying at premier inn & had heard of this restaurant. It was not too far but we'll worth it. The curry dishes were really good very tasty & good sized portions we had a very lovely Saturday. We were not rushed it was a lovely atmosphere. If you want a nice & fresh authentic Asian food. We highly recommend Jamals. 😀

Jamal's is one of the least know gems in Oxford. Excellent service and excellent food. We dined in and we liked it so much that we ordered from them after a few days. Surprisingly the restaurant is not on deliveroo but they have an excellent delivery service of their own which we found really cool knowing that our money did not go to a corporation but rather directly to the business. Could not recommend more

Arrived on crutches , to just get stared at and get no offer helping me with thise heavy doors. Then to order food and listening to all the staff shouting and swearing at each other . To the bartender going into the kitchen to help it seems. When the food come it was thrown onto the table by a very unhappy young lady. Food especially the korma was like watery soup and the starters for £9.00 I had a lettuce leaf and 1 tiny baji.. they seem to be all over bigger tables and cater to them quickly and more pleasantly, buy we spent enough in there also. Questioned why we didn't want to leave service charge, well where do I start so it seems the manager or owner took what he wanted off. Wouldn't go back here again, always wanted to Tey but was very disappointed. If you don't have enough staff then don't accept that many bookings or walk ins.

Went to Jamal's for a special birthday , with my wife's daughter, partner and 2 grand children, arrived a bit early, but that was no problem. The staff were good with the children and we settled down , the children were given there drinks straight away with some poppadoms.
We were given the menus and the drinks came very quickly whilst we choose our food.
The dining room has been upgraded with new decoration and new carpets through out looking really good. Our orders were taken and the food arrived with the starters coming out on time. Our vegetarian found plenty to choose from and the children ordered adapted choices.
The staff as always were attentive and the mains arrived looking spectacular, all the food was cleared from the plates, with Peshawar Nan being the children's favorite . Real y good value for a meal for 6, highly recommend
