We came back here tonight and had a lovely meal together our food was hot and nice there was so much we couldn't eat it all had to bring some home with us staff so helpful and friendly looking forward to coming here soon .you...feel 100 cent safe hereMore
the only good thing about this restaurant is the politeness from the staff.
COVID 19 safety measures they enforced were well thought out, yet extremely confusing. the price was very expensive especially with the limited menu that you are forced to choose from.
we tried...changing our order form 'eat in' to take out as the portion sizes are larger when taking out, the waiter wouldn't let us leave without a fight. we ended up sitting in and paying a fortune.
warning there is a 10% service fee added onto your final bill.More
We order takeaway from here a couple of times a month and the food has always been fantastic.
We decided to try the restaurant last night and sadly we did not have a good experience.
The only menu available if you eat in, is a...set 'thali' menu offering a very limited choice of approx 5 meals of chicken or lamb. They also offer a limited vegetarian choice. I don't eat meat, only fish or seafood, and there were no dishes on this menu that I could order
We were not told that there was a limited thali menu on booking and would have booked elsewhere had we known this.
I asked them if I could order off the normal menu that I order takeaway from but apparently because of covid, the full menu was unavailable???? The full menu is available for takeaway though...
The thali menu states that if there is a dish that is unavailable they will try to accommodate you so I asked if I could swap the chicken jalfrezi for prawn jalfrezi. The waitress came back and advised the chef could do this, which was great but added 4.50 onto the bill, even though the rest of my choices were vegetarian.
When the food arrived, it was fine but not the usual standard of delicious food that I would normally get from the Aziz.
The prawn jalfrezi that I paid extra for was inedible and not anything like the dish that I usually get as a takeaway from here
Unfortunately, we will not return to eat in this restaurant.
My advice would be to stay at home and get a takeaway from here!! That way you can order the dishes that you actually want to eatMore
Based on the good reviews on Trip Advisor my partner and I went along for Sunday lunch at Aziz. We had a selection of Indian food and it was all very good. The service was pleasant also, attentive, but not over bearing. Happy with out...first trip to Aziz at Iffley.More
We have eaten a handful of times at Aziz restaurant, since they took over at The Tree Hotel in 2019. It was good from the beginning, but since re-opening after COVID-19 lockdown, it's even better.
They're currently (August 2020) running a fixed-price Thali and Tandoori...grill menu and it is simply fantastic, by far the most authentic Indian/Bengali food we've found in or anywhere near Oxford, such a nice change from the usual million-item fusion menu that you find in the average Indian restaurant.
We go for the excellent vegetarian Thali, which means pappadums and chutneys, 2 samosas or bhajis, 3 different vegetarian dishes, a rice and a bread, per person. Multiply this by two and we get an amazing selection of different things to taste and share, and what we can't finish we take away, which invariably means we're getting two meals out of it - at £15 per person, this is excellent value.
Also worthy of mention are the desserts; often a weak point of dining out, but not at Aziz restaurant. These guys have upped the game. The thought they have put into presentation equals that of the flavours and textures of the recipe, and is well worth leaving room for.
Service is excellent, and on a sunny day the peaceful garden under the beautiful old horse chestnut tree is the perfect place to relax and enjoy the lovingly prepared Thali and grill menu. There are still some pub classics on offer, as well as Sunday roast, if those are more your thing, but I really encourage everyone to reach out and try something new.
COVID-19 note: Aziz is at the safe end of the spectrum and I feel reassured by the measures they are taking. Staff wear face masks and serve with gloves, there is hand sanitiser readily available and a one-way route in operation through the bar and restaurant.More
