We have just returned from an amazing experience at Sat Bains. This was our fourth visit and you wonder if they can surpass the last meal we had there but they always do. From arrival to departure the standard is excellent. Great wine recommendation. Outstanding...service, can't remember all the names but Tristan and Leon were great. The food is so well executed and there were surprises along the way e.g. dashi custard with the cauliflower, expected it to be hot but was cold, genius. Even after dinner hot drinks come with a lovely array of different flavoured chocolate shards.Breakfast too was of a high standard and a perfect way to end the stay. Can't wait to return and thank you to all the team.More

Visited the restaurant with my wife 3.30pm on Saturday 11 September. First up: food. Absolutely astonishing. We had the lunch menu with extra options. Worth every penny. Recommended absolutely for the food and of course the service. But... The theatre of covid measures plagued the...entire visit, starting with the badly written email sent to us before the day saying we have to wear masks when stood up and moving (because the virus knows when you're sat down), that the windows will be open so "ladies might want to wear a cardigan", and there'll be sanitiser everywhere yadda yadda. Mercifully, we weren't asked to put on pointless masks at any point and the windows weren't open. I would say 30% of customers wore their strange masks when walking around which was a reasonable low number but still too many, including the weird sight of people wearing them and sitting down at high stools and taking them off. The lack of critical thinking on display was hilarious. Why anyone would think a piece of cloth does anything when you're taking it off to sit down is beyond me - does the airborne virus only work about 4ft? The poor man who was mostly looking after our table was hard to understand because of his accent and the noisy environment, gulping air the best he could projecting his voice and struggling in his mask. The table next to us had no idea what he was saying, because they asked us if we could! It wasn't his fault, he was doing his best in ridiculous unnecessary circumstances. I was fortunate with my view to see the man himself Sat Bains in the kitchen most of the evening, and he was walking around the restaurant bare faced, no mask. Now exemptions exist, but the theatre of him breathing freely whilst his staff muffled their way through the day was quite something. The ridiculous theatre of false "protection" and virtue signalling with their masks to show they're being seen to do something was mildly annoying and did detract from what was otherwise an amazing experience. But PLEASE let your staff breath and communicate properly. Decades of research and science says masks don't work, and the nonsense response of "we take safety seriously blah blah blah" is stupid - you can get 100 million viral particles on the end of a pin, a piece of cloth does nothing to stop anything airborne otherwise you wouldn't be able to breath oxygen and hazmat suits wouldn't exist. If you cared about safety, you wouldn't have candles in your restaurant; we were more in danger of catching fire than catching a virus. Get back to normal and stop trying to look like you're doing something to keep people "safe".More

We booked well in advance to celebrate our wedding anniversary at Sat Bains Michelin star restaurant and rooms. I can honestly say for the money we paid it was very disappointing. We were put into Room 1 which is quite a small double room. Nice...refreshments tray with fresh milk provided but no fridge to keep it in. The bed was comfortable but the pillows were too soft and unfortunately no alternative available. They only offer 10 course tasting menu. This was nice but no wow factor. There was only one course of this Chawanmushi which is a cauliflower dish that was our favourite course out of all 10 dishes. We decided to go for the wine pairing consisting of 8 different wines not cheap at £145 each that we were told had been tried and tasted. These wines were definitely not worth the money. We have done wine pairings at other Michelin restaurants and these were poor in comparison. Nearly all white wines apart from 1 red wine. I know it comes down to personal taste but we have never encountered not liking all wines served on wine pairing. The breakfast included in the cost of the room In my opinion was better than the tasting menu. I wish now we had gone to London probably would have cost less and wouldn’t have come away from there feeling very disappointed and not worth the money we spent on something we were really looking forward to. We wii not be returning.More

This was for a late 40th birthday celebration for my partner. From the minute we arrived at reception we felt very welcome. Unfortunately we were late as the m6 had closed. Staff were very understanding and had lemon cake waiting on arrival which was a...lovely touch. We stayed in room two which is absolutely beautiful. I loved every bit of the decor. I came home wanting to change the decor in my bedroom 😀 Dinner was amazing with lots of lovely favours, beautiful restaurant. Staff are so down to earth and made us feel right at home. A big shout out to Francesca, you made our evening so memorable and enjoyable. Breakfast was also a delight and my partner was very happy to bump into Sat bains after we checked out. Being a chef he is a big fan of Sat's work. Hence why we spend his 40th here. The only minor thing to mention was my partner was waiting awhile to get a drink on two occasions. But hey ho there is bigger problems in the world ! Thank you for a lovely experience. Definitely highly recommend.More

So we travel for food in the UK and rest of Europe. Happy to spend for it. What a marvellous front of house and chef service. Communication faultless. Food is simply the best of the high end restaurants we have been to in years in...the UK. Chocolate tobacco mouse dessert and fabulous fish courses. I am a pescatarian and the team were so accommodating. Thank you - what a memory and experience. For the UK bucket list for sure.More

We had been planning to dine here pre-lockdown and managed to get a last minute cancellation shortly after reopening, luckily for us the only table was the kitchen bench, which is located in the pastry section of the kitchen. What an amazing experience, all 10...courses served and explained by the chefs who were all great. The food is just an absolute master class in flavour combinations and we just couldn’t fault anything. We stayed in one of the rooms which was nice, though to be very critical probably didn’t match up to the quality of the restaurant experience, but it didn’t matter, the experience overall was fantastic. Breakfast was equally as good with a great choice and equally as well prepared and presented.More

I always felt strange about living so close to such a highly-rated restaurant and having never been so I was desperate to try it. It did not disappoint. Everything was incredible from start to finish. We were seated in a lovely conservatory area with lots...of natural sunlight and the tables were nicely arranged for an intimate feel. The service was second to none (to the point of it being intimidatingly good) and the drinks were fairly reasonably priced (given the comparative cost of the meal). It was obviously very pricey but you're paying for an experience more than a meal and it's so worth the money. I think the menu we did was technically the lunch menu (we went at about 4pm) so it was 7 courses or something like that. Every single course was beautifully presented, every ingredient was high quality and all the flavours were amazing. I especially liked the "5 tastes" that started and ended the meal. I feel like it's a restaurant that everyone should experience atleast once.More

Exceptional service from the very talented and friendly team. Lovely ambience in the gorgeous restaurant, beautiful tableware and the most exquisite tasting menu. Every course outdid the last. The wine pairings were the best we’ve had and the sommelier was fantastic. Can’t wait to visit...again if we’re lucky enough to bag a table that is! Sat, Amanda and the team were so welcoming and really made us feel special for the whole evening.More

We dined in the 'Nucleus' part of Sat Bains for lunch, and it was an amazing experience. In a separate building, its just two tables and one chef in a full professional kitchen cooking 7 dishes for you. Amazing skill demonstrated by the chef, preparing...7 courses, clearing up, serving, and chatting to the guests all at the same time - and perfectly seamlessly. Food was excellent and inventive, and we left pleasantly full. Weather was nice so good opportunity to have a pre-dinner drink and post dinner coffee sitting outside.More

We booked dinner bed and breakfast as a Christmas present to ourselves. I had read about the location, yes it is not good but once you go inside the rooms and the restaurant you forget the outside surroundings and just enjoy a special treat. Our...room was small which wasn’t a problem, it was perfect, well decorated and everything you could possibly want for a nights stay within it. The greeting and the service overall is second to none, highly efficient and friendly all of them. We had the ten course taster menu which was amazing. Extremely well presented and very tasty, by the time the sweets came around we were full. It was a tremendous experience which is made all the better by the staff who are first class. Add in the tiny details that is all part of the overall package, on arrival we were given a piece of lemon cake which was a nice touch. On leaving they gave us two pieces of the very best flapjack I have ever tasted. Small touches which make all the difference. It would have been nice to thank the chef for a wonderful meal, unfortunately that didn’t happen, but it did not detract from an exceptional night.More

I would email the restaurant and ask. The tasting menu changes with the seasons. I am intolerant to some foods but I had everything on the menu and I was ok. Fresh ingredients prepared freshly. It was really amazing. Good... More

Good evening We would say the 7 course menu is 2 to 2 and 1/2 hours, and the 10 course up to 3 hours. We hope this helps.
