We'd never been before so decided to call in when in York. We went about 1130 and didn't have to queue- we were seated downstairs straight away. However, it did start to get busy. Staff were very polite, friendly and welcoming- nothing seemed like too much trouble. There was a good choice on the menu and not too badly priced.... More

I'd never been here before as the queues are usually too long, but we went on a cold Monday morning and got a table without any trouble. It was an exquisite experience and one I'd gladly do again! Service excellent. Cinnamon toast delicious. Coffee wonderful. Prices not too high considering the elegance and high standards of service in the place.... More

Very busy with a wait of about twenty minutes. Had a Yorkshire cream tea and an Eton mess to share. Marvellous. Obviously very popular with locals and visitors.

With family in York, I've been to Betty's many a time and can attest to the consistent quality of food and service. We usually go to 'Little Betty's' on Stonegate, as it's the same experience but with less queuing, however on this occasion we decided to go to the main location as my girlfriend had never been. Since they don't... More

Had a Lady Betty afternoon tea in the Belmont Rooms upstairs. Atmosphere was lovely, a grand piano playing away giving it a mellow feel. We were looked after by a lovely American girl called Danielle who made sure our visit was as good as it gets. Food was delightful and delicious, beautifully served and every attention given to service and... More

The queues for this place are really long during busy periods. You have to ask how long you are prepared to wait for a cup of tea and a cake. It's good to say you have been but try to pick a quiet time when there are no queues.

It is located in beautiful city center of York. You can park near museum garden and six minutes pleasant walk to Betty's from there. My favorite there is scone with Assam tea. If you order a set, it will include Sandwiches, Scones, and some cakes or macaroons with tea. Breakfast there is also highly recommended by many people. My husband... More
