I just love Gordon's wine bar. I've come here on my last two trips to London and I've loved it each time! It's a little bit of a struggle to find a table in the cave inside but both times we've been able to find one within 15-20min. It's worth the wait to have a wine and cheese night in... More

Let us have thinner slices of cheese? I chose a platter of carved cured meat, bread and salad, and then opted for some of the mouthwatering cheeses on display. Alas, they only came in big chunks! So could only have two. OK for sharing if many, but when you're on your own this was just too much and I hade... More

This place has a great atmosphere and not bad prices considering it's in the middle of London. It always seems busy, which is a good sign. Not really a place for kids maybe.

Dear Ade, thank you for visiting us and for taking the time to write a review. I'd just like to say that while the bar may not be a great place for children in the evening as it gets very busy we very much welcome kids during the day, especially when the weather is good and people can enjoy sitting... I have been to the Gordon's at number of occasions in the past and I love the atmosphere. I have never found a similar wine bar anywhere in London and this is a must visit place for anyone who enjoys a great selection of wines, cheeses etc.

This is a lovely place to visit for good wines and when you don't want a big sit down for a big meal but more a sharing platter. That said we still filled our plates with the salads and there was more than plenty!!! This makes it good for a pre-theatre meal though as quick service or for lunch when... More

Gordon's Wine Bar is a great spot to enjoy a small plate of food and bottle of great wine. As you step down the stairs inside, you immediately are in another world from the hustle and bustle of London. The inside is cellar so it is dark and has low ceilings. Tables are hard to find but if you get... More

Apparently the 'oldest' wine bar in London, by the looks of it you would have to agree. Set downstairs in what would of been an old cellar it certainly has an old charm about it. We would have loved to sit in the inside area but London was turning on some very hot weather when we were there, so we... More

Do not miss this London landmark for lunch or pre theater glass of wine. Always busy so be prepared to stand! One by the bottle and huge selection, but go with their daily recommendations, never been disappointed. Come early and Saturday or Sunday for early lunch, local made cheeses, pates, bread and many other items are great value and quality....... More

You'd never find this gem if you didn't know where to look. It's set back from the road and hidden next to a park right off the embankment tube stop. It's the perfect place for an escape from the bustle of London and to grab a glass or bottle of wine while meeting a friend coming from the tube or... More

Staying in Trafalgar Square / Embankment

Neighbourhood Profile
Trafalgar Square / Embankment
With its iconic Nelson’s Column, majestic oversized lions and brightly-lit fountains, Trafalgar Square is not just considered the heart of this bustling London hub, but the very core of the city itself. Beyond this esteemed gathering place are more famous icons, as well as a disproportionate numbers of the city’s most popular cultural attractions including the National Gallery and many West End theaters. Along the way to these major sites are quiet lanes and antiquated pubs to discover, as well as riverside vistas to enjoy on the embankment. With a calendar full of celebratory events, any time of year is a fine time to visit.
