Great wine bar full of character with many tables downstairs in the vaults lit by candlelight and more outside near to a park. Superb range of wines and a really good quality cheese and buffet section to. Really worth a visit if you wish to take someone somewhere different from the norm , very near Embankment tube

We had lunch and dinner at the Wine Bar and loved it both times. It's quite crowded - both inside and outside - but it's easy to see why. There's a great wine selection and the food bar offered a great variety of meats and cheeses. One of our favorites in London.

A lovely Wine Bar, hidden alongside Charing Cross Station, that is worth a visit. It is a dark, interesting place, full of dark, smokey looking arches. Little nooks and crannies to sit and sip your wine in. You are lucky if you get a table! I believe it used to be used for storing sherry/ wines bottles many years ago.... More

In London for an evening with mu husband & looking for somewhere to have a quick drink before we ate. Gordon's was recommended by my God-daughter for its quirkiness & good wine selection. Down the side of the building off a main road & then downstairs into a candlelit cellar, entirely not what I was expecting to see in the... More

We visited on the recommendation of a friend who had been before. He described it as "quirky" and it lived up to the description. If you like a sanitised, clean and franchised out look on life, and do not like a slice of unchanged history, then DO NOT visit. Totally reminiscent of a Dickensian story, complete with surly bar staff.... More

Our daughter had told us about this wine bar but I certainly didn't expect it to be where it was located. headed down the street towards the Underground station as many commuters rush by, nestled among the quick food stops you will find this quaint wine bar. Allegedly the oldest bar in London, not only is the front entrance, not... More

One of our Favorite spots in London .. Unparalleled atmosphere .. A walk into history in Rudyard Kipling's basement .. You can feel the history .. Good wine - Awesome selection of cheeses, meats and breads at the small mini deli bar .. Great for an afternoon wine and cheese stop smothered in extraordinary atmosphere .. A short walk from... Have been wanting to visit here for a while but have always passed on a Friday or Saturday late evening when it's totally heaving! Yesterday we walked past at 3pm, and were able to grab the last table and next thing we know it's gone 7pm and we've drunk quite a bit of wine! Great quirky at atmosphere, the underground... More

Went on Saturday night with 8 friends after dinner in Covent Garden. Was struggling to find somewhere where we would fit and suprisinglu managed to find a table which was unexpected .. thought would be doing a barrel lean at best! Wine was good as ever. Only two things that let this down was 1) they don't sell anything other... More

Staying in Trafalgar Square / Embankment

Neighbourhood Profile
Trafalgar Square / Embankment
With its iconic Nelson’s Column, majestic oversized lions and brightly-lit fountains, Trafalgar Square is not just considered the heart of this bustling London hub, but the very core of the city itself. Beyond this esteemed gathering place are more famous icons, as well as a disproportionate numbers of the city’s most popular cultural attractions including the National Gallery and many West End theaters. Along the way to these major sites are quiet lanes and antiquated pubs to discover, as well as riverside vistas to enjoy on the embankment. With a calendar full of celebratory events, any time of year is a fine time to visit.
