Take the stairs in the glass kiosk next to St. Martin's in the Fields, down to Cafe in the Crypt. A quirky place in a fun setting, the food was a bit more expensive than you would expect for cafeteria style, but it was or reasonable quality and the profits go to the church so that helps. It was jam-packed... More

The cafe is in a crypt so obviously not modern but the food is good. We just had tea and cake but people having a meal had a really good size and it still looked appetising at 3.30 pm.

Eating at the courtyard cafe enables you to drink in the atmosphere around Trafalgar Square... it is quaint, classy, and gives the feeling of being in the British classes :) Enjoyable

The crypt offers a relaxing place to have lunch or a cup of tea. A beautifully restored area, quiet but so close to National Gallery and the square. There is a wide selection to choose from and reasonably priced for such a central location.

The Café in the Crypt at St. Martin-in-the-Fields is a unique place to eat. You just take a tray and go and choose your food. It makes a change from the run-of-the-mill places in central London. They serve breakfast, lunch, afternoon tea and dinner and all profits go to the St Martin-in-the-Fields charity. This time we just had sandwiches and... More

We were able to have lunch here and enjoyed our meal. Be advised they have daily specials and the portions are large. They serve cafeteria style so it was good to see the offerings before selection. We were traveling with our 9 yo son and while they do not advertise a child's menu, they were able to give him a... More

I thought I would take my foreign guest here for Afternoon Tea and what a disappointment. Everything was hard, bordering on stale.I was too embarrassed to tell the Duty manager as I would have lost face in front of my guest, so we ended up walking out. I apologised to my guest as I had promised them an experience to... More

Hello Minkymonkey I am very sorry that your afternoon tea was not up to our usual standard on the day you were here. I have spoken to the manager who as you said you have been in touch with already. We do have quality control procedures in place, but should any issues arise our aim is to sort them out... More

pretty average food. I would stay away from the hot offerings - the roasted zucchini was enormous and totally bland. Stick with very basic. Good choice when you just want a quick bite. Tables turnover quickly and the crypt makes for a unique setting.
