I should have gone elsewhere when the couple a table away were complaining as I sat down and ordered a cobra. The food was ok but really not exceptional. Your local Indian restaurant is probably better and definitely less expensive. I stopped eating when a chunk of chicken tikka in my garlic chilli chicken rebounded on my teeth like a... More

Visited here last night, service was poor from walking in the door. As the evening went on we felt more uncomfortable but it was too late to leave. As read before on this site we were told it was cash only as the card machine was broken. Food not too bad but service is questionable. There are plenty of restaurants... More

Went here with my girlfriend whilst on a trip to London, had bad vibes immediately. Staff were all so arrogant, rude and aggressive. We had not even sat down yet when we both had menus shoved in our faces, and bluntly asked what we wanted to order. Staff were uncoordinated in their attending to customers, and they were constantly congregated... More

Just wanted to have some Indian food and went into the Maharaja. Booked a table at 8pm and when I went in the waiter says we only take cash! Although there is a sticker on the door saying they take visa /MasterCard.

My husband and I visited this restaurant in April. We were the only ones there at this time. The restaurant is pleasantly decorated and clean. The menu has a good selection. The food was very good. Our problem was with the waiter, who was extremely unpleasant. Snippy is the word best to describe his demeanor. We felt very unwelcome.

Food is delicious and SOHAIL is the most attentive waiter. The other waiters are mostly charming. We do have trouble if we open their door and the chef has not arrived. They will not let you in to wait which is annoying and loose many early lunchtime customers this way. We think the chef should get there on time as... More

We arrived at around 5.45 for a pre-theatre dinner. We had the table right next to the door. The service was fine, they did keep leaving the door open which left a bit of a draught and also let in fumes/noise from the busy road. We were given poppadoms and ordered one starter, mains and drinks. Drinks arrived speedily. 1... More

Fell upon the Maharaja after looking for an Indian restaurant. Were originally planning on eating next door but decided this looked a nicer restaurant. What a good decision. Food was fantastic, service was very good and the restaurant was busy for an early Saturday evening (6.30pm). After our visit we looked at the reviews and so glad we didn't look... More

Staying in Trafalgar Square / Embankment

Neighbourhood Profile
Trafalgar Square / Embankment
With its iconic Nelson’s Column, majestic oversized lions and brightly-lit fountains, Trafalgar Square is not just considered the heart of this bustling London hub, but the very core of the city itself. Beyond this esteemed gathering place are more famous icons, as well as a disproportionate numbers of the city’s most popular cultural attractions including the National Gallery and many West End theaters. Along the way to these major sites are quiet lanes and antiquated pubs to discover, as well as riverside vistas to enjoy on the embankment. With a calendar full of celebratory events, any time of year is a fine time to visit.
