What a terrible experience. From the tv showing sky sports to the screwed up laminated A5 wine list, we should have run for the hills. Stayed to see if looks are deceiving and in this case they are not!! The satay was greasy and chewy, sea bass dry and tasteless, noodles greasy and rice cheap and tasteless. I'm not sure... More

We were really looking forward to our meal with friends tonight! I was the only vegetarian in the group. Upon entering the restaurant seemed busy .. all looked promising. We were then taken downstairs to another seating area which had a tv on the wall?!?! The rugby was on! We ordered lots of foods and I was really disappointed- apart... More

Beef Rendang, chicken satays and some rice which should not have been so sticky. Beef was cooked to perfection, not enough sauce though, so we asked for some more. Satays we're pretty nice too. Small inside, So book before. Seems to be a hit with local malays, always a good sign.

Almost full but still with attentive and helpful staff. A wide range of different dishes incl many vegetarian and with seafood/fish. Tasty and moderately spicy.

I have no idea what happened to Satay House. At one time, it was THE place for Malaysian food. Maybe the old chef quit or something. Satay was ok, vegetable spring rolls weren't that nice and the lamb/potato cutlet was very bland. Grilled mackerel was cooked ok but very under seasoned. The "chilli sauce" with it tasted like some chillis... More

Satay House in Sale Place is without doubt the best Malaysian I have had outside of Malaysia. The staff are great, all the dishes are very well cooked, spicy and refreshing. I'm told that the Malaysian royal family get take away from here when they visit the UK. Its awesome - go eat.

The petite restaurant serve famous Malaysian cuisine, ranging from breakfast menu like Nasi lemak, lunch like Rendang, Nasi goreng, and light meal for afternoon tea like Sate and dinner like Laksa. I love the warm welcome by the staff, provide free iphone 6 charging facilities, and very cosy place to eat. Clean and comfortable. I will surely come again!

We went as a group of 9 people at 9pm on a Wednesday after a meeting. A table was available but although the kitchen closed at 10.30pm and the restaurant was open until 11pm, the manager kept trying to dissuade us from eating there! He said the food would take a long time as the kitchen was closing soon (1h30min... More

I have been going to this restaurant for over 10 years. It is always busy when I go, whatever day of the week, and the reason I keep coming back is because I really enjoy the food and everyone I have introduced to this restaurant has also loved it. I recommend booking in advance if there are more than two... More

We came here to celebrate a very special anniversary – we had been married in Malaysia 50 years ago. We could have booked any restaurant in London to celebrate our anniversary but, having been to the Satay House before (recommended by Malaysian friends some years ago), we chose to return. The welcome was wonderful. Very friendly and helpful. The food,... More

Description
For more than 30 years, Satay House restaurant in Londons Paddington has been attracting lovers of Malaysian cuisine from all over the capital and across the globe. Satay House Malaysian restaurant was given a rejuvenating makeover in 2006 by the designers of Wagamama so it now sports cheerful orange feature walls with hibiscus flower stencils, sleek leather upholstery and pools of warm light. Despite the name, the food isnt just about meat on sticks, though Satay Houses satay is likely to be the best in the city. Certainly the restaurant is a home-away-from-home for ex-pat Malaysians and there are regular visits from the Malaysian royal family. Large portions of fiery sambal and traditional rending curries offer the perfect opportunity to eat Hidangan style, or sharing with the rest of your table as in traditional Malay culture. All food served at Satay House is certified Halal and the soft beverages include several intriguing Malay offerings.
