Fine tapas restaurant near the hard rock cafė. When Johnny Depp comes to London, he always pays a visit. The tapas are tasteful, the atmosphere enjoyable. A bit noisy but when you make a reservation, ask for the 'alcove', there you are kind of separated. The service is top! Very friendly and attentive. Good adress for tapas in London.

We enjoyed our evening at piratas which is a block from green park in the beautiful Mayfair district. The welcome and service were friendly, attentive and professional. The table are a little tight and the place a little noisy but we enjoyed the laughing. Wine recommendation was good and our assortment is tapas was excellent. Especially the Spanish ham and... More

El Pirata is one of my favourite Spanish restaurants in London, Mayfair super nice area, resealable prices and delicious set menus, Tapas at El Pirata are the best, staff so friendly. At least once in a month I have lunch here. I highly recommend El Pirata

Pleasant lunch here on a Monday. It was very quiet. Good service. Straightforward but very tasty tapas at s great price point for this area. I would come again. Huevos rotos and baby eel in the fotos.

A work colleague introduced me. We sat at the bar and let the waiter make recommendations. They were good as was his wine choice, after giving up on the beer. I have since returned with my wife. A great find and one for our list to visit when we need somewhere nice to go to in and around Mayfair.

This restaurant was recommended to us by the concierge at our hotel and throughout our week in London we always planned to go but found ourselves farther afield at dinner. Our last night in the city we made sure to go and I am so happy we did! The restaurant was packed, bustling busy and loud and we loved the... More

On the way back to our hotel we spotted this restaurant. We were lucky to book a table for that evening as it was nearly fully booked. As we were going to the theatre we ate early and the place had a great authentic feel with a great atmosphere. We ordered various tapas and they were all very nice, the wine... More

Excellent place; food great, service great, and a great atmosphere; but many people will find it very noisy. We ate downstairs which had loads of tables so I suspect that upstairs may be a little less loud. We went on a Monday night and it was pecked so it's worth booking and shows how popular the restaurant is.

Thank uncleglyn

Critically acclaimed Spanish tapas restaurant El Pirata opened its doors in 1994. Tucked away in the corner of Mayfair next to Hyde Park, El Pirata has become a firm favourite for those wanting an authentic Spanish experience.

Relax at the superb mirrored bar with a drink or two whilst enjoying the atmosphere of the Spanish influenced decor. Whether upstairs or downstairs, you can enjoy the Tapas menu where each dish is individually priced, or if you’re not too familiar with Tapas, choose from our two fantastic set menus.

At lunchtimes enjoy our special lunch menu which offers great value; two tapas dishes, a bread roll and alioli plus a soft drink or a glass of wine for just £10.25 – great value!

Downstairs is ideal for parties and gatherings of up to 60 people. If you prefer a private area for either that important business dinner or a more romantic setting for that more intimate meal, you will find our two private alcoves perfect.

When the weather’s at its best, our four outside tables are an instant hit, but you’ll have to be early because they are snapped up fast!

Staying in Mayfair

Neighbourhood Profile
Set beside some of London's best parks and home to world-class galleries, luxurious hotels, and famed thoroughfares, the ultra upscale Mayfair is one of London's most exclusive haunts. Here the shopping is haute, the dining is exquisite, and the nightlife is vibrant. A casual stroll through the area’s chic streets will reveal that Michelin stars and chauffeured cars are practically the norm here. Even if you're on a tight budget, this exceptionally well connected swath of Central London is worth exploring, if only for the chance to take a peak at the goings on of upper crust English society.
