Went to this place for a Sunday roast. The food was excellent and the sticky toffee pudding was also great. The place is small and narrow with three floors. They do NOT take reservation, so arrive early or prepare to wait.

We were in the area and so decided to try this place! Packed of people with the pub downstairs and the restaurant upstairs. Very nice location, cool atmosphere. Food was very tasty and good value for the price. Definitely a place worth a visit on a friday with your friends.

As well as not half bad actor it seems sir Ian McKellen can knock up a decent roast as well if my experience is anything to go by. He is the part owner of the Grapes, a pub with a long long history and a few famous visitors in the past. The interior is unmolested thankfully both up stairs and... More

One of the few buildings to survive the bombings during the second wold war, this is a must if you can visit. We had just eaten and had went for a drink, then realised the food served here was far better than what we had just had. So we went back the next day for a delicious lunch. Lovely building... More

The rudest staff I have ever come across! I waited at the bar for 15 minutes and was totally ognored3 even when I said 'excuse me' several timed yet others were served! Perhaps I didn't fit in with the fashionable types who frequent the establishment! Rude, discourteous and unpleasant staff. I walked out in the end! I will never step... More

Turned up at pub for a quick pint, waited 15 mins to get served but the Irish barman blanked us and in fact served other customers that came in after us . Walked out disgusted. Never again (Sir) Mr McKellen!

Visited here twice now and enjoyed it both times. The atmosphere is great. It's nothing fancy - just a proper pub. The food is really good - well-priced too, which makes a change for London. We ate in the bar both times, but as you can't reserve tables in the bar, would recommend getting there earlier on Thursday/weekends to get... More

Description
Whether you're after a quick lunch, a romantic dinner by the river or just a friendly greeting in your local pub, we'd love to welcome you to The Grapes in Limehouse. We've been recommended by The Good Pub Guide since 1996, and you'll understand why when you visit.Overlooking the Thames, in a peaceful neighbourhood not that far from the bustle of Canary Wharf, The Grapes is one of the oldest pubs in London. Charles Dickens was a patron, and even made reference to the pub in his novel 'Our Mutual Friend'. Whilst our history goes back over 500 years, our menus are a little more up-to-date! If you're looking for something quick and tasty like a pie and a pint, you'll find tempting pub grub downstairs in the bar. Upstairs in our intimate dining room you'll discover sumptuous white-linen service for both lunch and dinner. And if you're looking for a venue for your Christmas lunch, we have a feast Dickens himself would have been proud of.We look forward to seeing you soon.
