This is a small but very cosy old fashioned English pub tucked away down a fairly narrow alley called Crown Passage in the St James district of London. The bar staff are very friendly serving good beer and a selection of appetising sandwiches at reasonable prices - considering that this is central London. An ideal light lunch stop prior to... More

Great beer, good company, nice décor in a nice area. Crisps and nuts ok, a few tables and chairs if you are quick on your feet. Not sure they do any other food. Thankfully places like this still exist.

We pop in here, from time to time, on the way to Rowley's restaurant and the simply lovely Manageress, Celia, is just SO welcoming and friendly that we would never consider passing this pub by. It's an old-fashioned London pub, with etched glass and atmosphere by the barrel-load! Highly recommend. We just love it!

With half an hour to spare I didn't have time to walk to my preferred pub so dropped into the Red Lion for the first time . It's small - it was busy but staff were excellent and the London Pride tasted just fine . I dint have time for food but those that were eating appeared to be enjoying... More

Great place for a drink and some food. The pub is really small, but very beautiful on the inside. It has a traditional vibe to it, with etched glass and polished woodwork. Ample choice of beers and pub food (though when we were there some of it was sold out). The sticky honey sausages were delicious!

Tucked down a side street behind Piccadilly is this small traditional pub. Etched glass and polished woodwork are redolent of a time gone by. Lots of real ales and honest pub food. Miss out the chains and pop in here.

We were lucky to get a table for lunch and had their fish and chips. Give it a try, you won't he disappointed. The fish was crisp as were the chips. We would return if we were local.

We dined here on a Saturday night in September as a group of 8 people. Really cosy and warm little bar area. We had to order at the bar which was unusual but didn't mind. Our starters and main courses all arrived at the one time which wasn't what we expected but again, we didn't mind. The disappointing thing was... More

Staying in St. James's

Neighbourhood Profile
St. James's
Perennially fashionable since the days of Henry VIII, the aristocratic “Clubland” of St James's is a premier destination for high end craft and bespoke design. Here you’ll lose count of the Royal Warrants (which indicate that the Royal Family patronizes the establishment) seen in shop front windows, even during a short stroll to bordering Green Park or St James’s Park. With the brightly lit and constantly buzzing junction of Piccadilly Circus at its northeast corner and none of Central London too far away, this is an surprisingly central and accessible part of town, especially given its prosperous demeanor.
