I organised a 21st birthday dinner for my daughter with 55 guests. Everything was excellent - pre-event planning, the food, the staff and service. As well as the quality of the food (from the Feast menu) we were particularly struck by the flexibility of the chef and the front of house staff to accommodate last minute changes (an extra guest,... Perhaps I'm being unfair for giving The Gun a poor rating because we didn't actually have lunch - but that was only because they didn't have anything available for vegetarians whatsoever! I'm not vegetarian, but my husband is and, living just around the corner, we would love to visit more. We had hoped that the place might become slightly more... More

We took our American counterparts to the Gun whilst they were in town to show off a great example of the British Gastro pub. As ever, it didn't disappoint. The service was very good and the food was excellent. I personally went for a meat feast with the veal sweetbreads followed by venison steak. Both were excellent and exceptionally tasty.... More

You wouldn't find this place by accident and to be honest unless you have business around Canary Wharf I can't quite see why you'd be in this area, but if by change you are this is a little gem. It's 250 years old, has stunning river views and lays claim to Lord Nelson as a regular (obviously not recently). If... More

This is a great pub with lots of history, really nice staff, dining room with impressive views over the Thames and O2, great selection of beers, but the food was awful. The menu has good choice but nobody really impressed by the food at all. So if you are after a great pub experience then the Gun is great but... More

We visited For Sunday lunch on the spur of the moment and found the staff very friendly and accommodating. We were sitting inside and a table on the river came available and they moved us swiftly which was a nice touch. The food was lovely and plentiful, the wine list superb and the desserts were great. Great views of the... More

Some foodie friends had recommended the Gun, so I was quite excited about going and expecting better than average pub food. The main pub is really cosy, the decor is top notch, with a welcoming log fire. We were shown to our table "outside" which I was relieved to find was actually in a conservatory type annexe with superb views... More

I went to see a movie at the O2 with a group of friends and afterwards we were wanting to grab a nice dinner. I looked through Yelp suggestions for the area and found this one to have the highest ratings... and boy, are they justified! But let's start at the start! The pub is a little harder to find... Brilliant resturant, attentive, fun, knowledgeable and passionate staff, great ambience, background music and most of all the food was excellent! We ate out in the terrace where we were in the warm but could enjoy beautiful views of the river and 02. Most importantly for the food, top quality flavours and wines and beautifully balanced portion sizes (not tiny like... More

Description
The Gun is a beautifully restored Grade II listed riverside pub, dating back to the 18th century. Frequented by Lord Horatio Nelson in the late 18th century, the venue has been transformed in recent years into a legendary London gastropub with a 40 cover dining room in the main bar, a back bar with two snugs, two private dining rooms and a fantastic riverside terrace that seats 40. Previously awarded London's Best Dining Pub 2012/13 by The Good Pub Guide, The Gun serves the highest quality British food complemented with experienced service. The bar offers a wide range of beers and cocktails and the wine list is seriously classy too. The nearest stations are Canary Wharf for the Jubilee line and South Quay or Blackwall for the DLR.
