Had a business lunch meeting here and was very happy with our choice. The pub is quite small with a lot of tables in it but you didn't feel too cramped. Very oldy lived in feel to the place but very comfortable.. food was great well presented hot and very tasty (crab risotto is to die for) and the service... More

7 of us visited for lunch. On the positive the puddings were good and the fish and chips good. The other dishes were small. The baked salmon was oily and the ratatouille very oily - would not recommend the latter at all. Service very slow and they automatically add 12.5%. It is a very noisy venue and difficult to hear... I had guests visiting and wanted to take them somewhere special. I've always had a good experience in The Garrison so took them there. It didn't disappoint. It's bright and airy with friendly staff. Brunch is delicious and good value for money. I'd recommend this place to anyone...

... great little venue. Booked a table for 4 and we got placed in one of the lovely booths. My friends were running late so I sat at the table waiting... usually when people are late the waiters tend to come over and ask when the rest of the party will be arriving but to my surprise they didn't and... This is such a sweet little place. The exterior doesn't do the interior justice. The decor has a rustic vibe with mix and match wooden tables and lighting that gives off a golden glow. Booths that give an intimate feel and an open kitchen that hides nothing. I came for a friend's farewell brunch and being vegan I was pleasantly... More

Wonderful breakfast of scrambled egg & smoked salmon on sour dough bread. The service was quick, the staff were friendly and the overall experience was excellent. Will definitely be back, maybe for lunch next time.

From the outside looks great, nice homely feel and quirky. But once you are in, it fails to deliver. I very rarely say bad things but on this occasion I will. Staff are sirly and even unfriendly, food is interesting uninspiring and almost tasteless. Don't be fooled by how busy it is, just must be so many nicer places to... More

Visited for breakfast last week - two couples. We hadn't booked but were able to get a table . Initially plenty of room but the place soon filled up - clearly very popular. We all ordered different meals for breakfast but all agreed the quality was excellent and reasonably priced. Lots of character with a nice busy ambience. Service was... More

Churlish staff, everything is a mental and physical challenge. In its previous incarnation, The Honest Cabbage, the venue was perfection and a destination. Over the past few years it's somewhere we don't even think of going.

We went to The Garrison because we saw it from the outside one night around London brigde. The location is nice and cosy and the food is unexpectedly good for a pub. We had cod with vegetables and it was really good! The service was neat and quick. We were in the basement which is really nice and much more... More

Staying in Southwark

Neighbourhood Profile
Even before the arrival of the instantly iconic Shard, the riverside scene in Southwark had moved well beyond any up-and-coming phase of development. For quite some time, locals and out-of-towners alike have loved browsing the boutiques of Bermondsey High Street, foraging through the bounteous stalls at centuries old foodie haven Borough Market, and flocking to the banks of the Thames to enjoy some of Britain's biggest attractions such as Tate Modern and Shakespeare's Globe. Despite Southwark's many popular draws, instant calm can be achieved easily by turning down almost any side street. For more urban buzz, a quick stroll across famed bridges like the pedestrianized Millennium Bridge or the ever photogenic Tower Bridge yields access to the very core of Central London. And with London Bridge Station as this neighbourhood's main transportation hub, getting across town (or to anywhere in England for that matter) is a relative breeze.
