This is very close to my workplace, but haven't visited before. Nice ambience and visited for a professional function. Only had canapes which were a bit average. They need more beers on draft (but please no more IPAs as there are too many in London already). That said they keep a good cask and pour a nice pint. Tasteful design,... More

On what used to be known as Brookes Wharf the renamed Pepys ( Formerly The Samuel Pepys) is in a great location that most folk would miss as you need to want to go there. The view up and down the river is great , well stocked bar and food that can be either a snack or main meal you... More

I came here for a work celebration (approx 60 of us in total) on a weekday lunch /afternoon. They had cordoned of the "Balcony Bar" for us as a private venue. There was plenty of food provided. We had a chicken and red pepper dish, a mushroom dish and salmon. The staff were friendly and welcoming.

I had an excellent visit here with two colleagues and we greatly enoyed the excellent food, pleasant surroundings, and great views across the Thames. The service was perfect - friendly and attentive but without the over frequent visits that some establishments use to urge you to drink/eat more or to vacate the table. The background music was just loud enough... More

The place is tucked away from the main restaurants and pubs in the area so it makes for a slightly quieter and more pleasant atmosphere. Our waitress was very friendly and helpful. We had quick service for a lunchtime but it wasn't very busy. The only thing I would say is the food wasn't amazing but is on par price... More

I used to frequent this place for lunch when worked locally and was always good quality food. Not sure what has happened in the years since but has gone downhill. The burger I had yesterday looked like it was shop brought. They always used to be hand made but the price has gone up. The others food looked ok but... More

Went there for a friends leaving do on a Tuesday evening. The bar and restaurant were very quiet but the beer was good and the view over the Thames excellent. Thanks to building work going on it is very difficult to get there from Mansion House tube would recommend London Bridge

Located just west of the Tower of London, and east of the St.Pauls to Tate Modern Millenium bridge, this pub is located down a narrow walkway just off the Thames pathway. With a small (very) outdoor balcony directly over the Thames and across from Shakespeare's Globe Theatre, the outdoor viewing is spectacular. However, the inside doesn't disappoint - with large... The Pepys worked out as an excellent venue for my retirement do (70 guests). I hadn't been here before and just found it on Google. We had use of the Balcony bar which had views (and small balcony) over the Thames towards The Globe theatre and The Shard etc, much better than other places that offered 4 walls. The manager,... Nicely done-out, modern bar/ pub right on the river in the City. We went for lunch and were lucky enough to bag a table right by the windows, with amazing views across the river. Food was tasty and very good value considering the location. I had a ribeye steak and my wife had fish and chips, both of which were... More

Staying in City of London

Neighbourhood Profile
City of London
From its ancient past as a Roman trading outpost to its 21st century status as the wealthiest square mile in the world, the financial district known simply as “The City” is one of London's most historic and fascinating neighbourhoods. Here high rise office towers such as Norman Foster’s Gherkin mingle with Roman ruins and architectural marvels from virtually every era in between, including Christopher Wren's glorious St.Paul's Cathedral, and John Soane's dauntingly classicist Bank of England. This neighbourhood is also home to some of the finest restaurants and plushest hotels in Europe, in addition to an assortment of of watering holes, upscale shops, and Tube stations. During the week, the City is abuzz with white collar workers going about their business; the weekend sees this area turn into a quiet haven for sightseers.
