I have to declare this as a personal favourite, but not having been for some time, was pleased to discover it has been revamped. Bare brick walls bearing illustrious black & white photographs. Upstairs, above the Restaurant. is the Frontline Club, named for members of the Press covering various War zones, armed with little more than a camera or notebook.The... More

Went here for son's birthday lunch. Travelled down to London and went here as very close to Paddington station. Ordinary from the outside but inside was bright modern, clean and a nice atmosphere. Food was absolutely delicious, well presented, excellent service. The only downside was the price, expensive but, hey, it was a birthday and well worth it. Would definitely... More

I had dinner at the Frontline recently and liked the ambience immediately. The wine was OK (not special) and th food similarly. However the menu was somewhat limited. I'm willing to give it another go in a few months time..

Took my mum, aunt and sister here for dinner on a Thursday due for ease to Paddington station. Used to come here a lot in the early 2010's and they've done a lot of work on it since then, creating more of an atmosphere in the restaurant and a great mezzanine level too by looks of things. Service from arrival... More

We live locally and had dinner here with friends who were staying in Paddington. Husband had been before and liked it so we thought we'd give it a try. The building is lovely and decor downstairs is very attractive with huge windows and an exposed brick end wall hung with famous reportage photographs. Try to sit downstairs if possible as... More

This is a small restaurant and I believe upstairs dining for members. Attentive wait staff before and during our dinner so much so that we really had no idea who was our waiter. The attention disappeared as we waited for someone to ask if we desired dessert. That being the only fault of the evening as our dinner was superb.... More

You could probably walk past this place without much of a second look, but it's a beautiful interior, and we enjoyed a yummy meal. Staff were attentive, friendly and genuine. Menu had a good selection for everyone at our table and we all enjoyed the food. Make sure you book on busy nights.

Apparently very well known for fish & chips in the area around Paddington Station. And deservedly so, they were excellent. Service (at least the night we were there) was a bit lacking. Our waitress wasn’t very helpful, not friendly and we had to flag her down when we needed something because she didn’t seem to care about checking on us.... More

We went to the Frontline at the recommendation of a friend. The food, service and value were outstanding. We each ordered a different plate and were all very satisfied. We will definitely return.

This was our third visit with the same two friends, the WAs. They had booked the table for the four of us for 7.30. We arrived early, confirmed that we were part of the WA booking and were shown upstairs to the Mezzanine level. It was empty at that time but a table was laid for 13 so we expected... More

Description
Recently refurbished by 2015 RIBA award-winning architects Skene Catling de la Peña and FAR Frohn & Rojas. The new look now features a long bar and a mezzanine level which seats up to 27 people and is available for private hire. The restaurant walls display some of the most iconic photographs of the 20th century, put together by LIFE picture editor John G. Morris. The menu is devised by Head Chef John Edwards (previously at Le Caprice and Soho House), and includes the best of British seasonal ingredients, much of which comes from the owners farm in Ellingham, Norfolk. The other produce is sourced from local, small businesses that retain the Club's high ethical and sustainable mindset. "Small, funky, very focused but rather cool," Peter York, The Independent "Knocks spots off the competition for value. In short, the Frontline is a staggering find: big, grown-up, lots of wood, but light and jolly with just a hint of foreign battles. Classy, but affordable enough to enjoy every day." Giles Coren, restaurant review in The Times.
