Great coffee and atmosphere and the staff were very polite, friendly and attentive. My food was good and my eggs were cooked just the way I liked them which was great. I debated between an average and very good rating but had to go average...More

Trendy venue in trendy area. Have had breakfast and brunch here a number of times, but always been disappointed by the food until most recent visit this weekend when I had a great bacon sandwich (actually 2) - crispy bacon, toasted ciabatta, avocado and chilli...More

It is not a first time we have visited this restaurant and before this visit, I always recommended to others. However, after this time, my opinion has changed. We chose to have our Mother’s Day lunch which was a disaster. After we sat at our...More

We went to Village East for a Sunday brunch last weekend. The food was great - I really liked the fact that the Sunday roast menu is available alongside the breakfast and brunch offers. The drinks were great too, the alcohol free ones in particular....More

Sad that this great place is slowly going downhill, we used to love it but every time we go the service and food is a little bit worse. Food isn’t as good as it used to be - and doesn’t always match the description on...More

I’ve been here allot over the years, however after many positive experiences this has to be the worst. The staff appear to be over familiar with each other , which although can be seen as a positive, isn’t in this instance. The loose management style...More

Even before the arrival of the instantly iconic Shard,
the riverside scene in Southwark had moved well beyond

foraging through the bounteous stalls at centuries old
foodie haven Borough Market, and flocking to the banks

This is actually pretty good. However "The Garrison" is a firm favourite for quirky. The decor is unique - check the drawers in your table - and the food tasty.

Description
Village East restaurant in chic south London enclave Bermondsey Street is designed to call to mind a hip East Village establishment in Manhattan. It sprawls through a listed warehouse and glass-fronted apartment building and is decorated in polished concrete, rough wooden pillars, striking curved white chairs, and a wide open kitchen. Sit back and enjoy a cocktail or glass of wine while watching chefs hard at work creating the modern eclectic dishes that make up the Village East menu. In laymans terms, this means European flavours and techniques are coupled with South East Asian influences, resulting in some intriguing combinations. We had our eye on the seared scallops and caramelised pork belly with carrot puree and teriyaki glaze; and the West Cork beef burger with sauteed foie gras, caramelised onion, jumbo gherkin and chips, but if youre more in the mood for a steak, or fish and chips, theres plenty of that on offer too.
