Sweetings is a venerable establishment that I hadn't visited for many years - probably about thirty. Very pleased to report that it just as good as I remember it. The downstairs seating is (white clothed) bar-style, and the place is busy, as lunching City types...More

I've been here a few times. It only opens about 3.5 hour a day Mon-Fri, so very much a City restaurant. Most of the customers are workers in the local area. The restaurant has been around for ever, and very much knows what it does...More

We have lunch at Sweetings every time we visit London. It is an old, established restaurant. We like the casual atmosphere which has long tables, tables for 4, and counter space. The food is very good; we always order fish which is the specialty. The...More

This is a really old school restaurant where fish is the order of the day. The staff are courteous and professional. The food is simply and well cooked. The seating is a bit like a mess or canteen with long tables, and one is not...More

Love this place, its unique, please don't change it! The fish is really good, as is the personal polite but very friendly service. Great pointed shrimp, salmon, haddock and sole. Far from cheap, but an experience not to be missed in our ever changing city....More

This is a place you might walk pass and never noticed. However, it has over 100 years old and the decor tells you all about it. Went with a friend who recommend this place, we went at lunch time so not so busy - really...More

This old school restaurant is steeped in history. Mainly fish classics, good wine and great atmosphere, helped by the table arrangements. Start with a black velvet and take your time over great fresh fish. There are so few of these restaurant types left in London,...More

The thing about Sweetings is that it is timeless - unchanged since the time of Dickens (except they now take credit cards as well as cash/cheque). getting there early enables you to choose a place - I like the tables with the high stools that...More

The venue is fun; old fashioned, not smart, lot of character, very much appealing to tourists on a nostalgic kick. Good bar with lots of silver tankards; very limited and expensive wine list. The food is OK, not good; customers are definitely not there for...More

Sweetings don't take reservations they open 11.30-3pm Monday to Friday so it's best to get there fairly early to ensure a table.
