Lunched on the top floor for a friends birthday. All had various rare breed steaks and all were quality although surprised to not see a ribeye. Decent selection of green sides with chorizo and chilli and a fantastic Bordeaux at great value. The service was absolutely first class, friendly and fun and look forward to returning...

My cousin, myself and our partners went to the ground floor cafe for a bottomless brunch. The food was great, all of us enjoyed it, and the Prosecco just kept coming, which is what I - a real quick drinker - expect from a bottomless brunch :) Our server deserves a special mention. I can't remember her name, but she... More

We had dinner on the top floor of smithfields for our 3 year anniversary together, I emailed and requested the best romantic table with the best views with some candles, and they put that together beautifully, when we arrived it was quiet, they offered to take our coat, was so lovely, everyone was so smiley and provided brilliant service! the... we ate here a couple of weeks ago - haven't been for about 2 years - its seriously gone downhill! we ate in the downstairs and went for brunch service was terrible and very slow. food choices are very limiting now and very very dull, ended up having a burger that was very dry and not very inspiring and the... We decided against a hotel breakfast in Kensington. and instead travelled to the other side of London for a fry-up. I remember the Smithfield breakfasts from my WRNS days and after night shifts in London we'd all escape to Smithfields as the breakfasts were - and are still - splendid. Well, so my husband and teen daughter in tow, in... More

I dined here with my husband just before a visit to the theatre. We had a lovely experience and would definitely take the children there very soon. We had groupon which was a meal for two which was a Tomahawk Steak with chips and a bottle of wine. It did take 45 minutes we were warned before it arrived, but... More

Winning lunch combo. Loved the tiled bar & industrial decor. Great food - fish finger butty v tasty. Fried courgette good also. Nice beer. Service a little brusque but still enjoyed it. Reasonable prices too. Quite fancied going back for the craft ale bar upstairs (70 beers ?)

I visited with some friends who all had mixed feelings about the food. The restaurant and atmosphere was fine but considering it was near to smithfields market there was disappointment with the steaks. All were overcooked.

We ate on the top floor with the wonderful views of London, especially after dark. The steak was good, probably not the best in London. Shame that when you order you only get the meat, there are no accompaniments, these cost extra. Wine list is a bit limited and very pricey.

Staying in Clerkenwell

Neighbourhood Profile
Clerkenwell
Owing to its proximity to Smithfield Market – the site of an ancient meat market which remains in operation today – Clerkenwell boasts a plethora of globally renowned restaurants, fabulous local eateries, and some of London's favorite pubs. This isn't merely a focal point for all things foodie though. Spend enough time wondering through the area's maze of streets and you might become accustomed to the litany of slinky models passing between Clerkenwell's handful of fashion houses. Far outnumbering the models are craftspeople and designers, many of them are more than happy to welcome visitors into their studios and showrooms.
