The location and the decor is amazing and cosy. The restaurant is very calm and the atmosphere very relaxing. The food is really well presented and the products used are of rare quality. Simple dishes made interesting with different cooking technics and plating skills. Very classical dishes and the wine menu is of good taste. Very pleasant dinner.

While I had planned when booking (3 months ahead) to go for the tasting menu, unexpected and recent brain surgery meant that on the day I did not feel able to do it justice so we chose a la carte. There is no question that this is a very good and comfortable restaurant, yet not stuffy as all staff are... More

La Gavroche has been on my 'bucket' list for at least 3 years but a big birthday finally made me book it although had to book 3 months in advance. Heard good and not so good things but like to make my own judgement and all I can say is book it and go. We dined on the lunch menu... More

Had expected incredible food but this was out of this world. Was very fortunate to have won the tasting menu with matching wines, however, the service, presentation and exceptional attention to detail was superb in every way. Although we were one of the last covers of the evening, we felt like we were still important and special guests. The cheese... More

From the moment you arrive at the front door you realise that this is somewhere special. In through the front door the bar area is classy, classic, laid back and quite subdued. The eating area is downstairs in quite a dark and old fashioned dining room, I wasn't really a fan of the décor but I was there for the... More

My wife had a voucher for Le Gavroche for her 30th birthday. We booked a Friday night at 18:00 for our meal. As soon as you enter you can tell you're in for something special. A guest was heard asking for Prosecco only to be told they only serve champagne. We were then led downstairs to our table in a... More

Everyone has said it all before. Yes - it was eye-wateringly expensive for dinner for us, our two sons, and wives. Will we ever forget it? No! From the moment we arrived, everything was perfect. One of us has a hearing problem, so I phoned before and requested a side table. We were perfectly placed, but still with a view... More

We were invited to join friends at this iconic restaurant and, having met Michel Roux Junior last year, were eager to see if the standards had been kept. The décor is sumptuous, as is to be expected; the staff attentive, naturally. The fixed price menu was exciting. I have never had cod tongue and so, being adventurous it was a... More

What can I say about this place from the moment we sat down it was amazing. We was a party of three, I would say four as the waiter was so attentive he may as well have joined us. The restaurant layout to the menu all ooze class. We started off with a nice bottle of champagne to start the... More

My husband has always wanted to dine here so we were fortunate to get a table to celebrate his 65th birthday. We were so excited as we are big foodies! It didn't disappoint! We had the tasting menu and each course from appetiser to coffee at the end was an experience and a delight. The service was impeccable and we... More

Description
The first UK restaurant to be awarded one, two, and then three Michelin stars, Le Gavroche remains a class apart. Since opening in 1967, this Mayfair bastion of French cuisine has been very much a family affair, and chef-patron Michel Roux Jr continues the tradition today. The elegance of the menu and the ambience is impeccably tailored, while the discreet service has won its own plaudits.

Staying in Mayfair

Neighbourhood Profile
Mayfair
Set beside some of London's best parks and home to world-class galleries, luxurious hotels, and famed thoroughfares, the ultra upscale Mayfair is one of London's most exclusive haunts. Here the shopping is haute, the dining is exquisite, and the nightlife is vibrant. A casual stroll through the area’s chic streets will reveal that Michelin stars and chauffeured cars are practically the norm here. Even if you're on a tight budget, this exceptionally well connected swath of Central London is worth exploring, if only for the chance to take a peak at the goings on of upper crust English society.
