My opinion ist: Best Indian Restaurant in London, quite expensive and unfriendly waiters. But the food is extraordinarily good and tasty.

Hugely disappointing food very average service but hugely expensive for the quality of food.... Visited this about 7 years ago and things have NOT changed at all. I feel it is stuck in a time warp and not moved on...... Considering the prices charged you can get much much better exceptional value elsewhere. My husband and I order the spiciest... More

I spent some of my childhood living in the Indian ocean, so to see the French / Indian cooking advertised was certainly a draw-card. The food tasted authentically Creole Indian to me and the mango cocktails were a treat. The decor is imaginative and really transports you into feeling you have left London far behind.

An Indian restaurant with a French flair with a great atmosphere and wonderful food in a super location , it is quite pricey, it is not fusion , but pure Indian with a French touch . It is worth a visit for it's uniqueness.

The tardis-like interior of La Porte des Indes is just one of its finest attributes. I recently visited the restaurant with friends and the experience was excellent. The red berry mojito was delicious and the food was nothing short of top standard. All the staff were very friendly and the service was fine tuned. It's an absolute must if you're... More

My wife and I had the tasting menu, which on paper looked like a stunning fusion of French and Indian cuisine. The reality was that some things were delicious and others were a culinary disaster. The Black Cod was a definite high note, succulent with a good mix of spice and sauce, where as the grilled lobster was over cooked... More

This is my 1st trip to London, and as my husband raved about the experience he had when he was on a business trip and had dinner with his firm's managing partner 16 years ago, he insisted that we dine at this restaurant this evening ( 4/9/17). Our children were with us, and they were quite enthused about Indian/French cuisine.... More

Description
La Porte des Indes is Indian cuisine on a grand scale, from the nine-metre waterfall cascading through the restaurant to the eight chefs in the kitchen. The food is just as spectacular, borrowing flavours from the former French colonies to add to its array of traditional dishes. Its central London location should mean you can spare some time for a visit to the Jungle Bar, where patrons are encouraged to throw peanut shells on the floor.

Staying in Marylebone

Neighbourhood Profile
Marylebone
Marylebone offers what so many London neighbourhoods cannot: a village feel coupled with urban convenience. Much of its success rests in its location. Wedged between the northeastern corner of Hyde Park and the southern end of Regent's Park and with a number of Tube stations within easy reach, Marylebone is as pedestrian friendly as Central London gets. The bustling shopping mecca of Oxford Street separates it from Soho and Mayfair, exclusive Regent Street marks its border with Fitzrovia, and cosmopolitan Edgware Road serves as its western edge. Within this enviably situated quarter are an array of outstanding restaurants (from Michelin darlings to down and dirty cheeseburgers), an impressive assortment of independently owned shops, and some of the city's quietest and most pleasant nooks, crannies and cobbled lanes.
