Went with a couple of work colleagues, not the most flamboyant of interiors but soon forget about this. Extensive menu supported by attentive staff who were happy to explain dishes and offer advise on combinations. In summary food and service was excellent and the bill...More

We were a group of 6 people and we sat at the table at 21.45 and weren't served all the food until 23.15. The waiter told us they were a bit busy so some plates would take a bit longer, but 1h 30 mins is...More

Asakusa has changed management but the food and service is still excellent , I would say the food has improved when I was there last year before change of management the food went downhill a little but I would highly recommend this restaurant, just one...More

OK, yes it is true: Asakusa is no longer a family run Japanese restaurant. But the menu is the same, cooked by the same Kitchen team and Sushi Chef, and the prices still competitive. The new management are trying hard to maintain standards and they...More

I have been coming to Asakusa for the last 7 years. The ownership changed in August 2017 according to the new staff and everything from service to food became terrible, please avoid this place. God I miss the old Asakusa.

Asakusa is a low-key and modest Japanese canteen near Mornington Crescent tube station. The extensive menu includes a wide range of Japanese dishes: sushi, tempura, tonkatsu, noodles, etc, as well as Japanese beers and sake. The quality is good, the prices reasonable, and the service...More

The original Japanese owner of Asakusa retired in August, and it is now run by a new non-Japanese owner. The quality went downhill, unfortunately. Our starter arrived after we had finished our mains, and Tonkatsu was very tough. Takosu was way too salty. They still...More

No frills Japanese, super tasty, generous portions, flavours as good as you'd get in Japan. Nothing trendy or minimalist about this place, just the real thing. Pork gyouza deliciously juicy, sushi good, asparagus sauté yummy, yaki tori great etc etc. Menu in English and Japanese,...More

Yes so that your place will be guaranteed! It is quite a small restaurant so reservation prior is highly recommended to avoid long wait.
