I spent a very agreeable evening ,yesterday with some old friends. The Istanbul serves good Turkish food at sensible prices. Some lovely white wine from Anatolia was just right with the various excellent dishes. The place is quite unprepossessing but, despite its humble exterior and quite basic interior there is a good atmosphere and plenty of other diners enjoying the... More

Was very pleasantly surprised with the quality of food. The mixed mezes were great and the mixed grill was delicious. There are a few tables outside, which is great for enjoying good weather as well as good food. I look forward to going back soon!

This used to be my favourite place in the area when I lived there. The staff are very friendly, and you feel like you are at home. The food is amazing! My favourite is Mixed Grill, and the meat is perfect! They also do Airan for a drink which is a plus, they have Baklava for desert. The outside area... More

I love Turkish food and was looking forward to dine at this place but it does not meet the standard. The Kebabs were cold and pink from the middle. I could not taste any flavour or herbs or spices. It was pieces of steak on the stick. Also this is a very congested place..tables are tiny compared to the size... More

This place has a really nice and quiet atmosphere. I visit it often as it's close to work. However food is quite average, nothing fancy. If you are looking for a nice place to have some coffee and enjoy some Turkish food I recommend it. Be aware of cross contamination if you're looking for gluten free food.

We had the cold in the hot Mezes. Very tasty and fresh food. We also had some fresh mint tea. Very comfortable if you're going to see a show at "229 the venue"

What more do you need when you are travelling alone? This place is welcoming, the staff are friendly mostly smiling, they serve fresh delicious food at reasonable prices, and the location easily accessible.

So, having ate somewhere else, but having time on our hands before train, thought I'd look for a Turkish Cafe. Happened on this place, tea a little weak, but wow the Borek was delicious and if the other food is this good then this is a gem of a place.

If looking for good quality fresh food for a reasonable price and VERY friendly and efficient service, look no further than Istanbul Cafe and Bistro. It's a pretty little 'traditional' Turkish restaurant with a lovely menu. Try the Mixed Meze platter - you won;t be disappointed - it contains an excellent array of different dishes and you receive plenty of... More
