This is a fun restaurant, where if there's a group of you, you don't have to worry about how loud you're being. Food's not amazing, we had sausage dishes and wiener schnitzel, but it's more about the beer and good times! We went on a Friday, which is their 'Oktoberfest' night. Having never been to the real thing, I feel... More

A group of 16 of us arrived for beer and food. Steins of larger were OK. The food whilst plentiful was average and lacked any real flavour. Lamb was well cooked but could have done with some flavouring. Young friends seem to love it but a number didn't drink beer so not quite sure what the attraction was for them.... More

Under the bridge and full of fun beers. This is somewhere you want to go. But you will need to look to find it. It is worthwhile though!

Good selection of beers, went in twice and found seats easy enough both times. Staff are helpful and the steins are heavy, would certainly visit again.

Fantastic little bar restaurant just down from the Tower of London serving tasty delicious German food and draught beers. Try the dark if you've never had one before. My only issue was my sausage platter should've been on a bigger plate & my starter arrived with our mains. However this place although relatively small on ground level had a wonderful... More

We have walked past this bar on numerous occasions, so as a big fan of Bavarian Beer etc this time we went in. Whilst looking at the beer on offer we were immediately told to take a seat as it was table service only which of course we did. The bar wasn't busy by normal standards however we just didn't... I've frequented this establishment on several occasions, for a mixture of work leaving drinks and social gatherings. Every time the atmosphere has been good, and the table service efficient. There is a good selection of beer, and the decor has an authentic German feel about it - even showing German league football on the big screens. Recommend.

Having had a trip recently to Bavaria, we were thrilled to find out there was a place within easy enough reach of home to try German food and beer. We went before the city workers had all left work, so it was mainly tourists and hardened beer drinkers in here. One waitress was top notch, one seemed a little lazy.... More

Bavarian Beerhouse "Tower Hill"Bavarian Beerhouse "Tower Hill" opened in May 2010. Right opposite from Fenchurch Street rail station, and just 200 feet (50metres) from Tower Hill tube station, the new venue is located in the heart of the City. Spread over two levels (street level and basement), the Bavarian Beerhouse Tower Hill has room for 300 guests. Exposed brick walls, wooden floors and modern architecture in combination with traditional and modern Bavarian design elements give the venue a unique atmosphere, both inside and outdoors. Have you noticed our pink deer head at the bar? He is called Bruno! The Bavarian Beerhouse Tower Hill was a success from day one, tripling the revenue from it's former tenant - a Pitcher & Piano - within the first month. It attracts a mixed crowd of office workers, tourists, and those who simply enjoy the authentic German and Bavarian atmosphere. Locals and residents enjoy the weekend opening hours - Bavarian Beerhouse Tower Hill is open 7 days a week. Following the success of the first Bavarian Beerhouse Old Street (founded in December 2005), the Tower Hill venue offers the Bavarian Beerhouse’s typical unique combination of excellent food, outstanding service, great German beer and fantastic rustic atmosphere. The Bavarian Beerhouse’s Owners are proud of the success: “Opening a second Bavarian Beerhouse in London proves that the British love Bavarian food, drinks and entertainment. We have already met so many local neighbours and all gave us a warm welcome.”"Tower Hill" Tube StationNext tube station "Tower Hill" (Circle and District Line)

Staying in City of London

Neighbourhood Profile
City of London
From its ancient past as a Roman trading outpost to its 21st century status as the wealthiest square mile in the world, the financial district known simply as “The City” is one of London's most historic and fascinating neighbourhoods. Here high rise office towers such as Norman Foster’s Gherkin mingle with Roman ruins and architectural marvels from virtually every era in between, including Christopher Wren's glorious St.Paul's Cathedral, and John Soane's dauntingly classicist Bank of England. This neighbourhood is also home to some of the finest restaurants and plushest hotels in Europe, in addition to an assortment of of watering holes, upscale shops, and Tube stations. During the week, the City is abuzz with white collar workers going about their business; the weekend sees this area turn into a quiet haven for sightseers.
