I dropped in here twice recently for a pre-lunch drink. I chose the champagne cocktail. It came with nice nibbles (refreshed when I had eaten the first lot). Kind service. Very pleasant atmosphere - but get there early because the bar fills up fast, or make sure yu reserve a table. In my opinion, you should avoid the martini cocktails:... More

Stopped here was going to have dinner but decided to eat elsewhere. Such a shame what a stunning venue. Nice bar lounge area really nice decor. The main waiter fella was walking around with a look he thought he owned the place. When I asked for a drink in the lounge he acted like he was put out! Not one... More

I was looking forward to my trip to the The Goring for a month!!! I have always heard this is one of the places to have High Tea and how brilliant it is. The decor was lovely and the staff friendly. The sandwiches were dry and to be honest could have done with a bit more filling, scones were lovely... More

From morning 'til night, the Goring Bar and Lounge provides excellent food and beverages. Fabulous 'Bar Snacks' - far too special to come under that category really - and a wonderful selection of accompaniments of a liquid nature. Fabulous Afternoon Teas are served here but you may need to reserve for these as their popularity grows. Brian heads this area... More

A big blip in making our afternoon tea booking by the lady in charge. If not for the deputy manager, Mr. Gabor, our afternoon would have been ruined. He more than made up for the oversight and rudeness of this staff member. We ended up having a great afternoon tea. The sandwiches were delicious as well as all the little... More

Without doubt a superb experience for Afternoon tea. How does the Goring manage to have such consistently fantastic staff? A minor miracle. Great food. Super range and quality of real teas. Lively food: sandwiches, scones, cakes in abundance. And more if you want. Service was simply impeccable. Everyone you pass or even look at says hello, how can I help... More

Wonderful service, very attentive, wide selection of teas and filter coffee was very good. The sandwiches were very good especially the coronation chicken (a bit different) and were both replenished and finished off very quickly! The scones were lovely, ample delicious jams and clotted cream and the pastries were exceptional particularly the mousse.

Good friendly service in quiet and comfortable surroundings where you feel relaxed and where most of the guests are not constantly on an electronic device, which is unusual in these modern times.

The bar area has tables that are tucked away or out in the larger room. The food is excellent and the staff is very accommodating

Staying in Westminster

Neighbourhood Profile
Westminster
If you only had an afternoon to experience London on a grand scale, Westminster would be a wise place to start. The ornate Houses of Parliament and Westminster Abbey sit adjacent at a corner of Parliament Square, and a short stroll along The Mall leads to Buckingham Palace. Trafalgar Square and Nelson's Column are just up the road as well. As captivating as the architecture is, the wonders of Mother Nature are highlights of the area too. St James's Park (arguably London's loveliest), the expansive Green Park, and pedestrian friendly tree lined paths along the river showcase the exquisite manicure provided by English gardeners. Just beyond the landmarks and the gorgeous outdoor spaces, quiet residential squares and age old local pubs offer a more subdued take on this global seat of power in the heart of London.
