The food is tasty and good value for the quality, and there's a nice selection of sherries. Service is good. I'd go back.

My father always insist we go here every time he comes to London. I'd stopped by in person to make a booking during the week so I could snare a table at the kitchen counter, which you can't do over the phone and I must...More

No booking but welcomed. Restaurant filled quickly, although it was a Monday evening. Sat at the counter and watched the cooking. Good selection of Spanish wines and sherries. Good mains and starters, but desserts not inspiring. Staff, both waiting and cooking excellent. Relaxed atmosphere

I'll start out by saying that I do love tapas, especially those authentic tastes from places like Sevilla. With that, I always over expect, especially here in the uk. But I thought this place was actually pretty good, especially the jamon, a personal fave. It's...More

We had a lovely time here on a recent visit for Saturday lunch. All the staff are very friendly and helpful and the restaurant interior is very Spanish - dark wood and tiles on the walls. The menu isn't so long that you think things...More

We stuck with tapas. All good quality but the octopus is outstanding. Good atmosphere, excellent service and a good wine list.

We've been looking forward to eating here for some time, and were not disappointed. The food was excellent, and the staff very attentive and friendly. It's really nice to see the open kitchen as well. Looking forward to our next visit.

Even before the arrival of the instantly iconic Shard,
the riverside scene in Southwark had moved well beyond
any up-and-coming phase of development. For quite some
time, locals and out-of-towners alike have loved
browsing the boutiques of Bermondsey High Street,
foraging through the bounteous stalls at centuries old
foodie haven Borough Market, and flocking to the banks
of the Thames to enjoy some of Britain's biggest

The full-sized restaurant is one block away from my sherry and tapas bar, José, on Bermondsey Street. At the front there is a bar, offering a great selection of sherries and Spanish wines, with a spotlight on cavas, Spanish style gin tónicas and Spanish vermút. Here, at the window seats overlooking the lovely church of St Mary Magdalen or at the long communal table or at the bar itself, you can have a drink and graze on snacks, cheese, cold cuts and special tapas all day long. At the rear is more formal restaurant seating - tables for 2 and 4, banquettes for 4-5, a large communal table for 8-10 people and a private dining room for 8-10 people. The restaurant is open for lunch and dinner in the evening all day from Monday until Sunday. When the restaurant area is open, the restaurant food menu is available in both the restaurant and the bar. We offer a selection of small and more substantial dishes that can be served as starters and mains or as tapas for sharing. As usual, I want to bring you delicious food with bright new flavours - the season's best on a plate. We take reservations for lunch and dinner in the restaurant and private dining tables, but hold the bar seating back for walk-ins.
