Were thrown out (Well, asked to move on.) of another place next door because we would not commit to buying 3 tapas a piece. They sent us to this place (apparently owned by the same proprietor). Capote y toros was a more relaxed atmosphere. Friendly wait staff and they had a guitar player. We ordered Chicoutrie plate, Chilled Prawns, Chirizo... More

We enjoyed delicious tapas from a good (but not worryingly long) selection. We were surprised to be told as we sat down that our table would be needed in 90 minutes, as this had not been mentioned when we booked. However, this never became a problem and the waiting staff were always friendly and helpful, especially when helping with our... More

Went to Capote y Toro with friends and was pleasantly surprised! The atmosphere was extremely good, vibrant and fun. The place was busy, with people constantly pouring in,yet the service was friendly, personal and professional. We were extremely lucky to meet the Chef, with Capital C,he made the best Tapas dishes I have tried in London! The duck liver and the slow-cooked tomatoes (8-10 hours... More

This is a very authentic tapas restaurant, just like we frequented when we lived in Spain. Friendly helpful staff, very knowledgeable bartender helped us with the list of Sherries, then the Spanish wines. We tried the Galician octopus (outstanding), Serrano ham, pimientos de Padron , bone marrow & Manchego. So tasty. We will return!

We only phoned to book a table a couple of hours before on a Saturday night but they happily accommodated the 6 of us ladies at 6:45. The atmosphere was perfect and there was even live Spanish guitar music later on, with the sun shining it felt just like being in Spain! We ordered a huge array of dishes from... More

Arrived for dinner for 3 people Wednesday night for Cambio de Tercio, only to realise that there were 3 restaurants all in the same area owned by the same group. After a quick inspection of all 3, we decided to go for the more casual/classic Capote y toros. From the moment we sat down, we knew the correct decision was... More

We arrived after 10pm on a Thursday night, to be welcomed by friendly and experienced staff. Drinks were promptly served as was the tapas. It arrived as it should, one by one as the dish was ready from chef. It was beautiful, the lamb was the most tender I've ever eaten. Everything that was put in front of us was... More

We happened in by chance on a Friday night. Hadn't booked but they squeezed us in on the condition that we only had an hour. As it turned out we were in there for a little longer but at no point were the dishes rushed or were we hurried. Fairly standard choice of tapas, but all cooked and presented beautifully;... More

We were a group of work colleagues out for a meal on a Wednesday evening, What a find , what a wine list, what a menu! Our waiter guided us through his recommendations and we decided to trust him and went with the selection he brought up for us. All of the varied dished were cleared by us all the... More

Went there with friends, found what you would expect from the food perspective (traditional tapas menu, very well executed) but what I had not expected had been the friendliness of the staff. All with a smile, very young and competent. Not so obvious for London. And another kid with a guitar gave the right music pace to the place. Great... More

Staying in South Kensington

Neighbourhood Profile
South Kensington
With its ivied mews, row upon row of Poppins-esque white washed mansions, and placid garden squares, it's easy to see the charms of South Kensington. And with superb access to Hyde Park, Holland Park and Kensington Gardens, as well as the largely child-friendly and mostly free Museum Quarter (not to mention more major attractions like Royal Albert Hall) such charms are easy to make the most of. As welcoming and cosmopolitan as it is reserved and residential, South Kensington is always a hit with visitors.
