The area outside was quite busy, so I thought this might be a descent restaurant, how wrong I was when we sat down inside, mario came over with a menu which he expected us to instantly now what we would order. Not much of a choice I played safe and got the calzone, my missus ordered the ribeye, and a... More

The signage above the door of this busy restaurant is now Little Italy... Probably because the reviews are so bad under the name Il Padrino! Staff are rude beyond belief. It was so bad that we found it funny! But so many people were getting angry as they were accused of confusing the waiter so orders were wrong! No they... More

The service was very poor - it seemed an effort to serve my table of four. When ordering a drink of cordial, they did not have any so bought over unwanted sprite that was left on the bill even though sent back. When wanting to divide the bill between three cards, the waiter refused as it would confuse him, although... More

Went here with my 2 sisters & mum whilst on long weekend for birthday celebration. We left the hotel fairly late & didn't have any luck finding a restaurant that serve "late" breakfast. il padrino very kindly offered to make us breakfast even though it was close to lunchtime (think around 12 noon!) & breakfast service was finished. it was... so they as always touted for our custom, waited at least 10 mins for a drink which still never came, when asked we were told they would get round to it, then another customer paid his bill and was asked to leave as they needed the table. Rude, obnoxious, really not putting us in the mood, atmosphere was shocking not... More

Went here because it was close to theatre and we like Italian food. Encouraged in by the man outside. The menu was thrown on the table which was not a good start. The mushroom risotto was acceptable. Some parmesan was thrown on top of it. The ice-cream deserts were pre-prepared. All in all, not a good experience and to cap... More

We love italian food. So, before going to the theatre we went to "Il Padrino". The 'owner/manager/whatever' called us in in a very pushy way. Once inside, installed at a table, it had to go very fast. Mario, threw the menus to us and 2 minutes later, Mario was very pushy, stressed to get the order. We didn't had the... More

My daughter and I ate here on Saturday 25 Feb, before a theatre performance which id booked as a birthday treat. She had wanted to go to TGI Fridays but sadly the wait was too long so we chose Il Padrino - what a mistake! In fairness the food was ok and the waiters generally quite nice, however, the head... Just walking past the restaurant and the owner ushered us inside quite pushily and seemed to ignore everything we said. We were waiting for the final member of our party for 10 minutes but the owner found this unacceptable and demanded we ordered without her. The food was ok, not that expensively priced but definitely quite middle of the road,... More

Staying in Trafalgar Square / Embankment

Neighbourhood Profile
Trafalgar Square / Embankment
With its iconic Nelson’s Column, majestic oversized lions and brightly-lit fountains, Trafalgar Square is not just considered the heart of this bustling London hub, but the very core of the city itself. Beyond this esteemed gathering place are more famous icons, as well as a disproportionate numbers of the city’s most popular cultural attractions including the National Gallery and many West End theaters. Along the way to these major sites are quiet lanes and antiquated pubs to discover, as well as riverside vistas to enjoy on the embankment. With a calendar full of celebratory events, any time of year is a fine time to visit.
