I have in the past been to The Kitchen on a regular basis when I worked in that locality. Being in London to watch my son run the Marathon and wanting a breakfast for myself and my wife I thought that Kitchen would be an obvious choice although in hindsight perhaps I should have read another recent review. We were... More

Dear Steve, Thank you for taking the time to write such a comprehensive complaint regarding your experience on Marathon Day. It's always disappointing to read comments such as yours and I most sincerely apologise to your wife for any discomfort she felt - this is defintely not the usual standard of response from me or my staff when mistakes are... I was disappointed by the quality of the breakfast here. It was over £10 per head and yet the ingredients were poor quality and tasteless. I do B&B and I know what it takes to put out a good breakfast and what it costs. This place is over charging by about £5 per breakfast at that quality and to add... More

Thank you Jeanette for your kind words and for being so lovely to look after. It's always enjoyable to look after other business owners and I'm glad you had a restful break because you both definitely deserved it! Take care and wishing you a successful Summer season. More

The Kitchen's biggest advantage is the buzzing visitors turnover. It is located in a great busy location but gives a bit of privacy and distance. Aiming for hipstery business look and feel it is loud and chatty. Food is good but nothing exceptional, prices are on the level of capital of Great Britain, staff - very friendly, warm and welcoming

Having had a delicious breakfast here last year we decided to stop off again on our way to catch the Thames boat. Found next to the Tower of London, as the name suggests, this café is just far enough away from the busy main road not to be disturbed by the traffic. What makes this place a little different is... We had breakfast here before visiting The Tower of London. Full English for £6.50 ( prior to 11am). Food was really well cooked and presented and staff were very pleasant. Attached to the All Hallows' Church, it's a hidden gem and has a garden which on a sunny day I am sure would be lovely to sit and eat in.... More

We booked this as a venue for a family get together for a group of 17 on a Sunday afternoon. There is a lovely warm atmosphere and staff couldn't have been more welcoming. Every single person enjoyed their meal and we all said we would definitely return. We thought it was excellent value particularly for that location and would recommend... More

We spotted this cute café the first morning we were in London, but it was closed for Easter Monday:( We went back the next day and had a full English Breakfast for 6.50. Excellent meal and value. A bonus was that on leaving we noticed the church All Hallows by the Tower and had a wonderful visit there.

Staying in City of London

Neighbourhood Profile
City of London
From its ancient past as a Roman trading outpost to its 21st century status as the wealthiest square mile in the world, the financial district known simply as “The City” is one of London's most historic and fascinating neighbourhoods. Here high rise office towers such as Norman Foster’s Gherkin mingle with Roman ruins and architectural marvels from virtually every era in between, including Christopher Wren's glorious St.Paul's Cathedral, and John Soane's dauntingly classicist Bank of England. This neighbourhood is also home to some of the finest restaurants and plushest hotels in Europe, in addition to an assortment of of watering holes, upscale shops, and Tube stations. During the week, the City is abuzz with white collar workers going about their business; the weekend sees this area turn into a quiet haven for sightseers.
