Came here for a bite of lunch before visiting the Hockney exhibition. It was late afternoon, but still very busy and so the selection of sandwiches was not extensive. The quality of the food was good, but in my opinion quite pricey. The staff clearing the tables were very pleasant and helpful, even though they were rushed off their feet.

We called into the café before looking around the galleries. The layout isn't the best and the value is on the downside. With a bit of thought and some fresh ideas I'm sure the café could be great but it isn't quite there at the moment.

Delightful venue. Great coffee. It is possible to sit out on a charming terrace in the summer but is snug and atmospheric in the winter. Do visit when at Tate Modern.

An ok spot for tea and a quick bite. They do lunches but by noon or after that you may have great difficulty finding a place to sit. The space allocated to the cafe seems large early in the day, but it fills up rapidly. There are a few seats in adjoining rooms so it is worth looking first.

Having looked at menus on line I was quite hopeful of a tasty lunch before enjoying the Turner collection. We opted for the spicy vegetable stew served with couscous which looked appetising. Disappointing. Not a great lover of hot food, I'm not sure where the spice was in this dish. A good selection of vegetables but lacking any real flavour... More

Don't know what the gripes are about. Service was good. Ok not best coffee but was relaxing place to talk about what we'd seen upstairs. Yes it's probably overpriced but since the gallery is free did not begrudge a penny

How hard can it be, especially if charging £2.75, to make a decent cup of coffee. The food was good, the tea was great value, but sadly, the coffee was watery and insipid. I imagine this is what the Thames tastes like! By the way, if you've not been to the Nash exhibition yet, give yourself a treat, and spend... More

Come and rest your tired feet after you've studied the Turner paintings. Nice selection of cold and hot foods, as well as drinks. Cafeteria-style.

This is so disappointing for its location! Food is mainly sandwiches and cakes all way over priced. Strange system like collecting your food and drinks from a school kitchen hatch. And unable to use your Tate card for discount! Why?

Nice cake and hot chocolate. Quite long queues. Some interesting desserts. A good place to visit if you are at the Tate Britain.

Staying in Pimlico

Neighbourhood Profile
Time spent in Pimlico is a slower-paced affair than most other Central London neighbourhoods. This largely residential area orderly arranged beside the Thames, is a treasure trove of quaint pubs, subtle architectural charms and local boutiques. Here, art lovers thrill at the chance to visit the world class Tate Britain gallery for its collection of British art from the 1500s to the present.
