On a recent short trip to London we were having a look round the Aldwych and I remembered the India club restaurant where I had last been 40 years ago as a student . Astonishingly not only was it still going , it is largely...More

Found this place quite easily but the only give away was the menu on the wall. Above an off licence on the first floor was the bar. Plenty of natural light from the high stained glass leaded windows. The barman recommended a new gin to...More

The time warp adds to its charm. Not easy to find as you walk along the Strand, but, worth finding. There is a bar on the first floor which is definitely old colonial decor with lovely views over the Strand. On the second floor there...More

Five of us spent a lovely couple of hours in the bar before going upstairs to the restaurant. We each had a Main Course and not including alcohol, the Bill was £50 - unheard of value in London. Staff were charming and fun.

The India Club is a restaurant in the old Strand Hotel. It's on the second floor up. It's not flashy or anything like that, but has really good Indian food for a fair price.

The India Club Restaurant, somewhat hidden, because it is located on the first floor of a rather inconspicuous, although architecturally nice building of the Hotel Strand Continental, serves very tasty food prepared promptly and offered by friendly staff. The interior of the restaurant is rather...More

I work in King's College which is a few doors down from here and frequent here quite a lot and so would class myself as in a good position to write a review about this place. First, the '1940's' style bar/lounge which is a floor...More

I've known about India Club for over 30 years but never got around to going until now. Let's be honest, this is no fine dining establishment so if that's what you are after, go elsewhere. But if you like rough and ready places which are...More

Trafalgar Square / Embankment
With its iconic Nelson’s Column, majestic oversized
lions and brightly-lit fountains, Trafalgar Square is
not just considered the heart of this bustling London

Yes, it is unlicensed. My advice would be to drink 3 bottles of wine before going and you may not realise just how bad the food is! By far the worst curry i have ever had, and i include microwave meals in that, and that is... More

The charmingly eccentric India Club Restaurant has remained much the same since its opening in 1946.

Hidden up a flight of stairs, India Club is one of London’s best kept secrets. Enter a timewarp, with portraits of the Independence era on the walls, bottle-green leather chairs, red lino flooring and wooden laminate tabletops. It is a British curry house of the first generation. Authentic ‘home cooked’ South Indian cuisine at extraordinary value makes India Club an unforgettable dining experience.
