Busy at lunchtime given it's city location. It has a nice buzzy atmosphere, and it manages volume and throughput well. The food is competently done, nothing stands out but neither is there anything in particular to criticise.

There's not many lunches which can cause you to lose a customer - but this one nearly did. I asked the hostess at the front door for the table booked under my potential client's name. I was annoyed straight away in being kept ages as she tried to sort herself out and never looked at me - but just spoke... More

Brasserie Blanc is a well known chain and, before my visit to the restaurant in Threadneedle Street, I'd eaten at Brasserie Blanc in Bristol. In my opinion, the Threadneedle Street version topped my Bristol dining experience. Unlike many London restaurants, it has that huge luxury - space! I've eaten in many restaurants where you feel like you're on a table... More

My second visit here, and with a different friend; in the evening, and not for lunch. My overall impression was that the cooking was good but the portion sizes were modest. Certainly, in the evening and seated by the window, noise levels were much lower. I had the mussels as starter. The mussels were some of the smallest I have... More

With wooden floors, the noise can be quite loud, but this is more than compensated by the atmosphere and the food. The cheese soufflé and the chicken salad are excellent and the staff are enthusiastic, overseen by a charming general manager.

I dined there with a friend that I hadn't seen for ages!! We absolutely loved it! Fine dining at its best. Delighful decor, ambience and service. The menu is lovely. Although I missed out on Sea Bass which is what I would of liked as it was not on my menu. But it was on the new menu which would... More

Visited for a business lunch with colleague and clients. Staff were pleasant and we were made to feel very welcome but £25 for a fillet steak was overpriced considering the quality. I understand it's in the middle of the city but these places need to consider what good food really is and what prices they should charge. Good location but... More

Staying in City of London

Neighbourhood Profile
City of London
From its ancient past as a Roman trading outpost to its 21st century status as the wealthiest square mile in the world, the financial district known simply as “The City” is one of London's most historic and fascinating neighbourhoods. Here high rise office towers such as Norman Foster’s Gherkin mingle with Roman ruins and architectural marvels from virtually every era in between, including Christopher Wren's glorious St.Paul's Cathedral, and John Soane's dauntingly classicist Bank of England. This neighbourhood is also home to some of the finest restaurants and plushest hotels in Europe, in addition to an assortment of of watering holes, upscale shops, and Tube stations. During the week, the City is abuzz with white collar workers going about their business; the weekend sees this area turn into a quiet haven for sightseers.
