We were booked in for 13.30 arrived an hour early but could sit down. Ambience and service second to none. Food V good although the "Herdwick Lamb" had a rather overpowering sauce. The pineapple sponge with coconut custard and ice cream was superb. Beer and wine reasonably priced.

Sunday lunch using the travelzoo voucher for a 3 course menu with a glass of champagne. The restaurant kindly allowed me to upgrade to the weekend fizzy deal and pay the difference, which was amazing as it had unlimited prosecco :-) . From the minute we entered we were impressed by the beautiful decor and perfect service. The table was... More

A really great evening of fine dining. Nothing to fault, just great service, great food and great wine. There wasn't any of the pretentiousness or theatre that you get with some places and it was all the better for it. We had the tasting menu and all the courses were excellent - a favourite was the tagine - that left... More

this place combines both impressive design and great food. Service is perfect, food - just excellent. Ultimate fine dining experience. Expensive, but reasonably expensive comparing to some other michelin starred restaurants in london, and totally worth every penny. And there is an outside area where you can have a cigarette with a glass of calvados.

You just absolutely have to eat there. The Bistro is first rate, but La Chapelle is exceptional. Ambience first rate, food beyond reproach and the staff excellent. The waiters know their food, the sommelier is to be applauded; do try the recommended wines with the a la carte menu - brilliant Sancerre. Cannot praise them too highly. Chef dame to... More

Food was nice, had the crab starter and 'Tea' beef main. However on way home I was violently ill. It may have been something else but I have been made sick by seafood before and recognise the symptoms. Obviously with crab it is somewhat at your own risk but in a restaurant of this calibre it is not something I... More

You know that plate of food when people are asking you a question. But you can't answer. Because you are having a taste explosion in your mouth from the last forkful of food..... That is this place. Where do I start. The starter. Crab. Wow. Brilliant. Not quite conversation stopping but brilliant. But then the main. Rack of lamb (only... More

I had a dinner booked this Monday for my wife and a friend of us. Very friendly staff and well trained (at least the ones who served us, as we did notice some very clumsy ones as well). Apart of that, food rating I would say 4 stars out of 5...if they had 1 AA Rosette maybe, or none. I... More

Description
The third restaurant to be opened by acclaimed chef brothers Chris and Jeff Galvin, La Chapelle has been consistently praised, winning no less than 8 top restaurant awards in its first year, including AA London Restaurant of the Year, and Tatler magazine's Restaurant of the Year. Chef Patron, Jeff Galvin, provides a menu of modern French cuisine, gaining a Michelin star in the 2011 Red Guide, just a year after the restaurant opened. There is also a menu gourmand, prix fixe lunch, early dinner menu, and Sunday Roast lunch menu. The service, under the direction of Alessandro Piombino and his team, effortlessly combines warm, friendly and attentive hospitality with a fine sense of tradition and decorum, in keeping with the grandeur of this Grade II-listed building. The restaurant is one of the few restaurants in London to hold a vertical list of Hermitage La Chapelle wines.

Staying in Spitalfields

Neighbourhood Profile
Spitalfields
For a glimpse of Georgian and Victorian London at its most pristine, or a peek into what's apt to be the next big global trend, the hipster zone of Spitalfields can provide hours of amazement. Around the clock, this is a haven for early morning bargain hunters sizing up its street markets, foodie foragers throughout the day, or late night revelers hitting some of London's most popular bars and clubs.

Wedged between the business-minded City of London, expressly trendy Shoreditch, and zestful Whitechapel, the lines between traditional and contemporary beautifully blur in this historic East End nexus.
