I only visited for drinks, so can't judge on the food, but really enjoyed what I found. This was on a Thursday, post-work, so was heavily populated by workers, presumably from around Mayfair considering that most were young men in suits. One dude was even...More

This little pub and restaurant in Mayfair is a little gem tucked away in a sweet charming tiny street. Getting inside the place is a little bit like entering a Wes Anderson movie. It feels very old school and cosy . The chef receives you...More

Tucked away in a little laneway, Guinea Grill is a charming little pub with restaurant in back/upstairs. Gets pretty crowded on workday evenings (less so on weekends) but is a nice alternative in Mayfair, where there are fewer pub options.

We had a magical roast Sunday lunch for 20 family and friends in the boardroom. Sensational roast beef and great surroundings.

We are delighted that you enjoyed your lunch with us. We are very proud of our extensive wine list, our entry-level wines are at £26 in the restaurant and £23.50 in the bar, we believe that this is in fact very reasonable for a Mayfair...More

Very traditional British restaurant (ex pub), good steaks and service but just not convinced the prices are warranted. Went with a group and the cost per head was well over £200. Yes we had good wine but not outrageous wine. They were very relaxed with...More

Smart casual seems to be fine. I saw some jackets and ties, some jackets without ties and some just trousers and long sleeve shirts Jeans, also doesn't seem to be a problem. It's not brightly lit and it's a pub really.

Description
In 1952, a tenant by the name of Alistair leased the Guinea from Young's and transformed the business with a very simple idea. He realized that following the end of the Second World War, Americans were beginning to holiday in Europe in big numbers. Tourists would often, travel through France and Italy before arriving on British soil by which time they were 'gagging' for a decent steak. A decent steak was exactly what Alistair provided. Prime Scotch beef from Aberdeenshire. Basically, there was no menu and no price list. You were simply given a knife and asked to place a mark on the steak to indicate what size you wanted. Suddenly the Guinea Grill was a hot ticket, film stars, politicians, world leaders and the wealthy flocked to the back room of our tiny pub. We're founder members of the Scotch beef club and we've been serving the very best steaks for 60 years. We've trialled beef from other parts of the globe such as the US and Argentina. They all have their merits but for depth of flavour none of them compare to prime Scotch and the finest of English beef. This is the basis of our continued popularity together with the fact that our restaurant is within a unique London pub. Many of our staff have been with us for years, and we place a high value on customer recognition and warm hospitality.
