Good home style cooking at reasonable prices. Sausage especially very good. Nice when warm and nice you can sit outside.

I'm not really keen on chain restaurants but I have to say that our waiter was really attentive and kept popping back to make sure that my table of 7 had everything that we needed. Had seafood tagliatelli that was absolutely delicious.

Near Embankment Station Tube, Whitehall Gardens, and Golden Jubilee Bridge there is a hidden treasure with outstanding straddle and hot coffee. The food is full of flavor as well. The staff is usually very friendly. I usually sit next to all the traffic and over look the Thames because the beautiful park is the pigeon apocalypse.

We only popped in for tea whilst passing by. We arrived late morning and the small café (an old garden pavilion) was not busy. It is tucked away in a quiet spot across the road from the river and there is outdoor seating. There was a reasonable choice of cakes and the bakewell tart was good. The (shared) outdoor toilet... This was an odd breakfast experience. The food was minimally flavorful, but the service was on the border of unkind. Maybe because we got there a few minutes before they officially opened? Fyi, on Saturdays they open at 8:30.

Stopped at the "Embankment Cafe" in Victoria Embankment Gardens for lunch when on my way to a business meeting in nearby Savoy Place. The location in the gardens is fabulous with plenty of outside seating so you can eat and enjoy the gardens, people watch and soak up the sounds of London. The Cafe is quite basic serving typical British... More

A busy Sunday afternoon in late summer in London. Where to stop for a coffee and a bite to eat? The Embankment Cafe presents very well, situated in gardens opposite the Thames Embankment and alongside the Embankment Tube station. HOWEVER, while the staff were pleasant, the food and drinks were abominable. The scone was old and inedible and my BLT... More

This cafe in the lovely tranquil gardens offers reasonably priced food outside or inside over the road from the Thames river. It's a peaceful place to recharge your batteries and the peach/coconut sponge cake is delicious (only wish I knew who supplies them)!! I visit every time I go to London.

On a sunny Summer afternoon you might be forgiven for thinking you are sitting at a café in Central Park - New York. The spot is just beautiful. Pity about the rest though: the cheap, plastic garden furniture, the lack of table service, the uninspired food selection, the poor service, and the sad canteen style restaurant. And it pricey too!... More

Great place to eat outside in London. The food was a little overpriced but it's only to be expected in this location. The cafe is situated in the park that runs from Embankment tube parallel to the Strand and goes behind the Savoy. Lovely to sit out and have a coffee on a sunny day. The food was ok -... More

Staying in Trafalgar Square / Embankment

Neighbourhood Profile
Trafalgar Square / Embankment
With its iconic Nelson’s Column, majestic oversized lions and brightly-lit fountains, Trafalgar Square is not just considered the heart of this bustling London hub, but the very core of the city itself. Beyond this esteemed gathering place are more famous icons, as well as a disproportionate numbers of the city’s most popular cultural attractions including the National Gallery and many West End theaters. Along the way to these major sites are quiet lanes and antiquated pubs to discover, as well as riverside vistas to enjoy on the embankment. With a calendar full of celebratory events, any time of year is a fine time to visit.
