Booked in for high tea, we booked at £40.00 a head, beautiful surroundings and furnishings. We were asked would we like to upgrade our complimentary processco to champagne as it was Christmas. We said yes please, then ordered another. Sandwiches and warm scones were lovely. Staff amazing and THEN the bill arrived we were charged £17.00 for each glass of... More

My wife and I stayed the Rubens from 12/31/16 to 01/02/17 as part of our Christmas holiday. Our hotel room was accommodating and the staff even had voltage converters available for our US plugs. We had a view looking into the confines of Buckingham Palace (the back side, but still). Much of our time was spent exploring London but when... More

Was taken here for my birthday by my fiancee and enjoyed every minute of this experience. We've enjoyed many afternoon teas in and around London and this was certainly up there with the best. The service was excellent throughout. We felt extremely comfortable and were placed at the window sofa which was perfect. From start to finish, the food was... More

We were given a gift voucher for Afternoon Tea for Two at The Rubens and what a wonderful gift it proved to be. The whole event was a memorable experience from the moment we were warmly welcomed. Our host, Enci, was bright and amusing, explaining how it all worked and helping us make any necessary choices. She also made us... More

We had booked for an afternoon tea and were met promptly and escorted to our table in the window opposite Buckingham palace, what a great location! The staff were very attentive and smart, explaining the various teas on offer and again later when the food arrived explaining exactly what was within our selection. The food was lovely, well prepared and... More

Spoke to Margaret before we came about our specific dietary requirements - she was really accommodating and efficient. The tea itself was great, particularly the scones. The lounge has a warm atmosphere, the staff in the lounge (and the lobby) are all very friendly, and Enci in particular was an excellent host - thanks Enci! Also the pianist and singer... More

We stayed at Rubens for a few days, dined for the English Breakfast Buffet and the dinner buffet, as well as experiencing their traditional afternoon tea. Rubens is part of the high end "Red Carnation" collection. The hotel is in a great location - you can quickly walk to wonderful attractions such as Buckingham Palace, the Churchill War Rooms, or... I would highly recommend the afternoon tea at Rubens at the Palace. The sandwiches were so good and the cakes were delightfully yummy. For tea, we chose the special Rubens blend, which was very good. Tea is served in the library, which is cosy and intimate. I was there with a friend who was not a fan of scones beforehand,... More

The restaurant was very nice, service excellent and very good food. I arranged to have breakfast with my two night hotel stay and had dinner in the hotel restaurant one night, too, something I rarely do. I recommend it, mid range prices.

We stayed here for 2 nights due to my dad getting an MBE and the location is right near Buckingham Palace so it was ideal. Staff extremely polite and helpful, they cant do enough for you. Hotel lobby is stunning especially at christmas, with a grand christmas tree and complementary hot chocolate with all the toppings and syrups. My room... More

Description
The Rubens at the Palace is located on London's Buckingham Palace Road and plays home to the Rubens restaurants. The Old Masters' Restaurant serves some of London's finest traditional cooking, including a sensational rib of Aberdeen Angus with Yorkshire pudding and a mouth-watering buffet laden with delicious dishes. This grand carvery and grill room oozes old-world charm and elegance. The Library Restaurant serves award-winning modern British food in an intimate, relaxed environment with comfortable armchairs and a traditional-style decor. Its 2 AA Rosette standard cuisine features signature dishes including Cornish scallops or a delectable combination of Irish and Scottish salmon carved at your table and followed by New Forest venison or Dedham Vale fillet of beef. The Palace Lounge follows through from the Cavalry Bar and is a magnificent bright open space with views of the Royal Mews at Buckingham Palace, the Queen's stables. This is a great vantage point from which to spot the passing pageantry, a daily occurrence being so close to the palace! Guests love to enjoy an afternoon tea and watch the world go by, or at night a liqueur in one of the cosy armchairs. In the evenings, a pianist provides lively music and entertainment, helping guests relax and unwind in friendly surroundings.

Staying in Westminster

Neighbourhood Profile
Westminster
If you only had an afternoon to experience London on a grand scale, Westminster would be a wise place to start. The ornate Houses of Parliament and Westminster Abbey sit adjacent at a corner of Parliament Square, and a short stroll along The Mall leads to Buckingham Palace. Trafalgar Square and Nelson's Column are just up the road as well. As captivating as the architecture is, the wonders of Mother Nature are highlights of the area too. St James's Park (arguably London's loveliest), the expansive Green Park, and pedestrian friendly tree lined paths along the river showcase the exquisite manicure provided by English gardeners. Just beyond the landmarks and the gorgeous outdoor spaces, quiet residential squares and age old local pubs offer a more subdued take on this global seat of power in the heart of London.
