The ambience in the restaurant was great. Food was phenomenal. Portion sizes were perfect. Our waitress was splendid and provided great support. She arranged a Happy Birthday dessert plate for my friend. The food here is so unique and sumptuous.

I'm a vegetarian and a vegan wanna be so I've been wanting to come here for a while but since it's on the expensive side there was never a chance. However, last month I took my mum here and sadly the experience was very disappointing....More

Personally I would dampen the sound a little more, reduce the lighting and look at more comfortable chairs. If they did then they'd almost certainly warrant a Michelin star. We had the tasting menu and it was quite possibly the best vegetarian meal I've ever...More

The food was awful and overpriced. I had the cous cous main course and it was tiny and very bland. The dessert was unbelievably disappointing (see picture). It was a brownie with hazelnut ice cream, which should be hard to mess up! But as it...More

Good vegetarian restaurant in the city! Lovely gourmet vegetarian meal with a reasonable wine list. If you need to go to a veggie restaurant this is it. Recommended.

Everything about our experience here was wonderful. The food is eclectic and creative. Extremely fresh, beautifully presented, and simply delicious. Wine choices are plenty. Service is terrific. Our server, Natasha, presented beautifully and understood the menu and how each dish was prepared. She was extremely...More

We have visited Vanilla Black several times. The food is great and the range of vegan options is fantastic. I recommend the set lunch menu and in particular the mushroom main which is served with crispy couscous. It was fairly busy when we visited last...More

The restaurant lack real atmosphere even though it was a Friday night. The food, whilst rather small in proportions, was absolutely lovely. Very subtle flavours, beautifully prepared and served. The staff were very attentive and were accommodating to special dietary needs! We also were able...More

This was my second visit for dinner some years apart. I'm so happy to see this restaurant still in business. Their dishes are beautiful and flavorful vegetarian fare. I am not a vegetarian, but it doesn't matter. The food is delicious and filling and their...More

Your mother's mantra of "eat your vegetables" probably never brought to mind dishes quite like this. Vanilla Black restaurant, originally from York but now located in the City of London near Chancery Lane, smashes the stereotype of bland, lentil-laden hippie dishes. Instead, Vanilla Black takes a modern, imaginative and ambitious approach to vegetarian cuisine. Result? It is the only vegetarian restaurant in London that's recommended in the Michelin Guide. At Vanilla Black, it's not "vegetarian cooking", it's "vegetable cuisine". The dining areas are spacious and done with art deco-esque flair, Vanilla Black's cool and comfortable dining room sets the stage for its innovative cuisine. Dishes such as hickory smoked duck egg and Ducketts Caerphilly pudding and sweet potato vindaloo with saffron risotto are sure to make an impression on even the most diehard carnivore. Vanilla Black's desserts like carrot cake and orange sorbet with crystallised coriander delight the palate.
