We visited for my partners 40th Birthday meal and from the moment we entered we were blown away! We were greeted by exceptional staff who were friendly, attentive and made us feel so welcome. Our waiter was fabulous, attentive and couldn’t do enough for us,...all staff were just amazing! Could not fault the service we received at all. We were seated promptly to a gorgeous little table where we had an excellent view of the kitchen and bar. Decor is simply stunning. Once we were sat we received two complementary bread sticks - gorgeous. We were slightly overwhelmed with the wine list, but thankfully there was someone there that o help us with our choice (forgotten his name but he was so knowledgable and gave us an excellent choice). The wine was one of the nicest we’ve ever had out in a restaurant. For starters we ordered beef carpaccio - out of this world! And my partner had the roast Veal, which he said was exquisite. We were also given focaccia and the nicest olive oil, both combined melted in your mouth and was gorgeous. Whilst having our main we were asked if we would like another serving of bread, which we couldn’t turn down! For mains my partner had the Tagliolini All’astice (lobster pasta) and said he felt like it was an Italian explosion in his mouth. I ordered the Rigatoni Al Funghi (wild mushroom pasta with black truffle), gorgeously creamy, maybe a little rich for some but for me just delicious and was recommended to my by the waiter - so big thanks to him! Desserts… well! I had the chocolate fondant - I have no words to describe this. Again recommended to me by our waiter over the panna cotta, said I would have to wait 15 minutes for it to be served but that was a small price to pay for what I was given - outstanding!! My partner had the tiramisu and said it was the best he has ever eaten. My partner was then served a little plate with two little sweet treats wishing him a happy birthday - lovely little touch! Meal was pricey but we knew that before we booked, and honestly we would pay it again we had such a great experience and we ate very well! As we were leaving one of the hostesses handed my partner a car and wished him a happy birthday and to our surprise it was a little card wishing him a happy birthday - such a lovely pleasant surprise and left a lasting impression on us both! A must visit and we will certainly be back!! Thank you Margot!More

This was Italian food as 'haute cuisine'. The whole experience was a delight. My husband and I took our eldest granddaughter there and both generations really enjoyed. A cool, smart look to the room, friendly and professional service and the food was excellent. We had...the lunch menu.. grilled calamari (a far cry from the usual greasy dish) that tasted fresh out of the sea, the house pasta 'tonnelli' served simply but with great flavour, and panna cotta which put a smile on all our faces. A slightly overwhelming wine list but I chose a carafe of Sicilian Nero d'avola, as we're heading there on holiday soon. Bring it on, we said, having tasted this!More

Arrived at the restaurant. Service to start with was good. Sommelier was fantastic as were the waiters. Starter of scallops came on cold plates. We ordered Fillet steak for mains, with cabbage and roast potatoes. We received steak, awful cabbage, and broccoli. We said that...we had ordered roast potatoes! We sat for a while waiting for the roast potatoes. Meal was cold, as was served on a cold plate and I don’t think was freshly cooked! We asked for the meal to be replaced. We sat and waited, and waited…! Meal was cold, unappetising and we could not eat it all. We had ordered quite a quite expensive bottle of wine. Wasted on an awful meal. We have eaten at Margo’s twice before. We will not be returning. The manager needs retraining, as does NOT know how to deal with serious complaints! An utterly disastrous meal. Such a shame, as used to be an amazing restaurantMore

We went twice during our stay in London. It is such a joy to find exceptional food. Every single thing we had to eat was well prepared, interesting, and of the best quality. The staff was very professional as well. We went to some nice...restaurants during this trip, but this is a cut above the rest.More

The wife and I had eaten here before whilst staying in London, and thought we should return. We shared the seared scallops as a starter. I mean, seared with a light crust on the outside and tender and succulent in the centre. Simply divine! For...our main, we shared the pan-fried cod and beef fillet. The cod was cooked to perfection with courgette, smoked cheese and samphire. The delicate, well-cooked cod with the creamy sauce and the crunch of the samphire was delicious. The beef fillet was served with baby aubergine and grilled broccoli. The meat was cooked to perfection as medium. Fantastic! For dessert we had a Caprese dessert, which was a burrata mousse with basil crumble and tomato and orange jam. Delightful and light with the crunch of the crumble and the tang of the jam. Also, an almond panna cotta with peach and amaretto crumble. Again, delicious with the creamy panna cotta, the tartness of the peach and the richness of the amaretto. All washed down with some fine pinot noir wine. Service was very good, so a shout out to Arturs (as per receipt) for his efficiency, helpfulness and politeness. The atmosphere was busy, but friendly. Thoroughly recommend this restaurant. The only carp would be that it was very expensive.More

Margot isn’t a “trattoria” but a very nice “ristorante”. Don’t go there expecting cheesy music, pictures of “old Napoli” or traffic-cone sized pepper grinders. In fact the classy ambience is one of its strengths. A great deal of money has been spent on the design...and décor and it shows. This level of quality also extends to the staff, who were formal but friendly, polite but approachable. This puts Margot in the same league as London’s other upscale Italian restaurants, with their TV chef-patrons. The food at Margot is certainly not bad – for most of the time quite the opposite. The huge grissini supplied, (while we read the menu), were delicious, as was the textbook focaccia and superb olive oil. Our starters of vitello tonnato and a burrata with cherry tomatoes couldn’t have been bettered. The photo of the burrata dish on the restaurant website didn’t do justice to the huge amount of incredibly sweet and delicious, cherry tomatoes on the plate. We shared a “primo” of crab ravioli with saffron which again – was first class. The pasta hadn’t been overcooked and the filling - very tasty. We shared the pasta, as I like to have three savoury courses and my wife always has a dessert, so ordering two pasta dishes would be too much. Full marks to Margot for not being bothered by our “split” request. For the main courses, my wife had the ossobucco with risotto Milanese. The veal was deliciously tender and the bone marrow – the star of the show as usual. The risotto was wonderfully “al dente”, (not to everybody’s taste), and was incredibly rich but lacking a little Parmesan flavour, (possibly omitted from the final “mantecato””)? My fillet steak with spinach and broccoli was as the course to choose if you were avoiding carbs. The meat was cooked exactly as requested but the hockey-puck sized ball of spinach was a trifle under-seasoned. Desserts were the Achilles heel of the meal. My wife couldn’t decide between the Caprese or the Parfait Tropicale – so I suggested ordering both. While not bad, we struggled to get any real “fireworks” from either dish. Full marks for the desserts not being over-loaded with sugar by the way, (we are not enamoured with overly sweet desserts). The parfait seemed pre-prepared and “livened up” before serving with a nice melange of tropical fruits. Again, certainly not bad but in truth – not five star either. The wine list is very comprehensive, (even by the glass), and the prices have the usual London mark-up. I’m not going to complain about that as it is a factor in (almost) all London restaurants. The pre-prandial drinks were of also excellent quality. What I will complain about is not having an after dinner sprit from 1975 which was on the menu. It wasn’t exactly cheap but as it was produced two years after my wife and I were married – I thought I would splash out. They didn’t have it and although my XO brandy was terrific – I did feel a little disappointed. So I’d rate Margot as being a very good restaurant indeed. In terms of décor and service – it is up there with the very best. If TA had half points, I’d award Margot 4.5 but as it doesn’t, it gets 4, with a point deduction for desserts and unavailability of listed items.More

A wonderful and genuine Italian restaurant with great staff and ambience. The veal Milanese or beef fillet are the picks. We ate well, enjoyed some fabulous Pieropan Soave (can’t really go wrong) and all topped off with limoncellos of course! Thank you.

I wonder a bit if this place is trading off location and reputation. Everything was OK. Admittedly we chose a set menu because we were in a bit of a rush pre-theatre. But it all felt a bit dialled in. The dressings were all over-vinegared,...the sauces were all over-seasoned. I couldn't fault the presentation or staff but it just didn't seem to justify the price tag. Better options available in same area for same price. Place was 3/4 empty which might have been a sign.More
