My husband and I enjoyed a magnificent tasting menu experience on Saturday night. We added the optional Prestige wine pairing option and although it was expensive, it was sensational!
Every single dish was light, complex and a unique blend of flavours. The paired wines heightened each dish. Particular stand out dishes were the ceviche, the lobster ravioli and the deconstructed carrot cake. The waiting staff and sommelier were attentive and informative with feeling too fussy or formal.
As it's a restaurant in Mayfair, the price is ofcourse what you might expect from a Mayfair restaurant but the quality of the experience more than justify the price.

I dined here on Friday for my husband's 50th. The venue is lovely, very stylish, nice and warm and with perfect ambient lighting and discreet piano music emanating from somewhere from time to time. The service was mostly good, although the chap who ambled over to advise on the cocktails had no clue whatsoever, but was brusquely bundled aside by the appropriate gentleman, and scurried off somewhere to do something more suited to his abilities no doubt. The staff knew we were gluten free and were very clued up on this, which is refreshing, but should go without saying in this day and age.
The menu is quite limited but we both found dishes we fancied. The starters were incredible but the main courses, as others have mentioned on here, could do with just a little more carbs. A 6cm long slab of meat or fish, admittedly beautifully cooked and covered in a yummy sauce but with a mere few minimal slivers of veg, isn't really what I call a meal. By the end of my halibut and cauliflower dish, I was starting to get just a tiny bit tired of the unrelenting fish and cauliflower combination. In my opinion, the dish could really have done with something else to keep the party going. My husband had the same issue with his beef cheek, which, although the waiter proudly announced it had been slow cooked for 9 hours, still managed to be remarkably un-tender, and again, with no meaningful veg to speak of, one has to question whether one has actually had a fulfilling and balanced meal.
I think if I was Jay Rayner, I would say that 'what this dish is crying out for is a good dollop of mashed potato'! :-)
The only other minor blip was the wine waiter bringing us the wrong wine.
But, all in all, the venue is lovely, with great ambience, on the whole the staff are very efficient, it is actually less pricey than other similarly celebrated restaurants I could mention and the food is beautiful, if slightly lacking in carbs. But I guess that's the world we live in now right?

We booked the Ormer Mayfair for it’s fine dining good reviews and it didn’t disappoint. I arranged for a dozen red roses to be pre-delivered to our table and my wife was pleasantly pleased to have the only table with flowers on Valentines Day dinner. My real point is that it took just one phone call to organise it. I don’t know if they have music every night, but there was a pianist playing delightful romantic tunes in an adjoining room which most people in the restaurant would have heard. The food and service were equally great. The head chef and waiter came out to greet us and made it just that little bit more special. And because it’s on a one-way road, tucked away in a quieter part of Mayfair, there was plenty of parking space for my Bentley right out side the main entrance, which is attended by a smartly dressed doorman. Well recommended for fine dining!

Amazing, delicious and good value in comparison to other tasting menus!
A surprise meal and our friend came too. The staff were very attentive but not at all overbearing and looked after our 8 year old just as well as us.
We had our own ‘booth’ table which we could have curtained off if we’d so wished.
The tasting menu along with the wine pairings was superb, every course very different with food we never would have put together and all delicious.
The sommelier was extremely knowledgable which we appreciated as we enjoy our wines and the waiters enjoyed us showing interest in their culture and conversation too.
Highly recommend a visit to anyone for any special occasion or just because. The atmosphere was not stuffy and enhanced even further by a live pianist. I’d give it more than 5 stars if I could.

This is the third time I have visited Ormer for lunch. Each time it seems to get better. The food is amazing, the set lunch menu is great value considering the high quality of food served. The service is excellent, all members of staff go above and beyond to exceed expectations. The surrounding are very comfortable, and beautifully decorated. If you are looking for somewhere for a special meal in London, I can't recomend this place highly enough!

I was looking forward to this meal having read glowing reviews. However, it felt as though we were in a different restaurant with minuscule portions and some poor cooking.
We had the 3 course set menu dinner for £45 each including 2 glasses of wine, which we had a voucher for. As we weren’t drinking we switched the wine for mocktails, which were one of the only good parts of the meal.
The 2 starter options were pate with bread or salmon mousse with bread, not offering much diversity, creativity or skill, so not what I would normally choose at a fine dining restaurant. I had the salmon and it was fine, just as you would expect. My wife being vegetarian asked if they had any veg offering and they offered tomato tortellini, which was very tasty, but a little small.
Unfortunately it went downhill from there. My wife ordered the shallot tart for a main and when it came we were shocked by the tiny size of it; a small piece of pastry with less than one shallot on it and a couple of herbs. It was litterally 3 small mouthfuls. My lamb was only slightly better, 2 slices of lamb on a tablespoon of cucumber spaghetti. When they arrived I immediately asked if we could get any sides to go with them but was told they didn’t offer any. I cannot understand how they thought the shallot tart in particular was at all acceptable as a main. Both dishes were well cooked but embarrassingly small. Having looked through photos on here and the menu afterwards the lamb dish they served as a main is exactly as on the tasting menu, but with the lamb rack replaced with 2 slices of rump. The shallot tart was similar to one of the starters, (but smaller!). This is completely unacceptable in my view; a main on a 3 course menu needs to be more substantial than one on a 9 course menu!
For dessert we both ordered the panacotta rather than sherry trifle. This came in a ramkin and was soup consistency, with a berry sauce on top which had all mixed into one unappetising mess. I said to the waitress that our panacotta was not set but apparently that is how it was meant to be.
The only redeeming points were that we had two bread baskets and the madeleines they brought at the end were warm and tasty. On the whole a very disappointing experience!

Be prepared for the supplements. Our £31 set lunch menu finally cost £ 51. That said it would be difficult to find a restaurant in London of comparable quality offering a three course lunch which included Lobster as the main course for that price. We left well satisfied having had perhaps the best meal we have had in the capital for som Stimson. The cooking is excellent and the service friendly and efficient. The basement room itself is a little brown and staid but pleasant enough.

My partner and I treat ourselves to fine dining experiences for birthdays and celebrations and this was definitely one of the best!
We had the 3 course set menu dinner, including 2 glasses of wine, for which we’d purchased a voucher just before the first lock-down. On this occasion we decided to treat ourselves to a glass of champagne beforehand and although expensive (for us) it was of the highest quality.
The set menu consists of 2 dishes to choose from per course - so for two of us that’s just fine as we get to pick a dish each. The starters were salmon mousse or pate (both served with toast) and were delicious and quite substantial. With the accompanying home-made sourdough bread we were both filling up nicely. The main course was duck or a vegetarian option so we both opted for the duck (with very little to accompany it) but it was the most tender duck portion either of us had ever tasted. For dessert there was panacotta or sherry trifle and both were absolutely delicious.
The dishes were accompanied by a glass of white wine and a glass of red wine each, served by the friendly sommelier, and like the champagne were of the highest quality.
All the staff were really friendly and helpful and made the whole experience all the more special.
In summary, we really enjoyed our dining experience and would thoroughly recommend Ormer.

Recently visited for dinner. Very much enjoyed Lobster Ravioli and Yellowtail starters. We shared the Cote de Boeuf which proved too substantial for us to finish and also resulted in there being no room for desserts.
Overall excellent but just lacks that certain something. Also felt a little hurried.

After 4 months without visiting a restaurant, we managed to get an early booking at Ormer and we were pretty much their 1st diners since restaurants re-opened in London on July 4.
We were impressed by the hygiene protocol, with hand sanitiser on arrival, socially distanced tables and staff wearing surgical masks and we were further put at ease by the welcome and friendliness of the staff. Service was attentive and we soon had a glass of fizz and a single-use menu. We both had the beef tartare and shared the spending cote de bouef before finishing with the recommended treacle tart and Pavlova.
We were very grateful to the whole team who were uber friendly and managed to shine, despite the constraints they had to work under.

We visited Ormer for the first time this weekend, and have to say that I thought it was exceptional. The ambience was superb, all the food was delicious, beautifully presented, and the flavours complemented each other perfectly. The staff went above and beyond to help my wife who's pregnant, they offered extra cushions and took the time to talk through the menu to ensure everything was OK to eat. Couldn't ask for a better experience.

Fabulous food and amazing service. I’m often surprised by how quiet it can be and why more people do not know about this place. It’s downstairs at Flemings Hotel but there is plenty of sunlight from the basement windows during summer, and a very cosy feel in winter. We come here quite often, the menu changes regularly and the dishes are always creative and delicious. A great fine dining experience but without some of the pomposity of other similar restaurants. Right now the serving staff all wear discreet masks or visors and the tables are well spaced without feeling lonely. The general vibe is grown up and refined, but relaxed.
The staff are friendly and attentive and the female manager, who has been there for years, always goes the extra mile. We ate lunch here today and after two wonderful courses and some great wine, my husband decided he wouldn’t have dessert because there was no chocolate option (he’s a self-confessed chocoholic). He remarked on this in earshot of the manager who immediately insisted she would procure a chocolate dessert and a few minutes later one appeared, along with coffee and petit fours. A truly special place.

We have become regulars at Ormer and this was our first return visit since lockdown.
With only 25 covers accepted owing to social distancing the restaurant is operating with a much lower staffing level than before.
At the moment they are not offering a set menu but the a la carte is full of lovely things and presentation and flavours and textures should give Ormer a high food ranking which has not yet been forthcoming.
The staff tried very hard to be efficient and friendly and succeeded too.
The wine list is a shorter version of their cellar and on the back of the one use menus. The room is lovely and it is hard to go wrong here. We will continue to visit.

Ormer offer multi-course "tasting" menus which are small dishes, meticulously presented and delicious. They have a vegetarian and a pescatarian menu too, so they do cater for everyone.
Tables are large and well spaced out, the interior has dimmed lighting and is great for talking as there is no ridiculous music. Luxurious.
The clientele are civilised, they looked like accomplished business people or well brought up people. No 'tourists' or the annoying 'influencers' taking selfies and pictures of everything.
Also, devoid of the appallingly dressed "tourists" which are in abundance at Novikov. So you won't see a belly spilling out of a vulgar branded t-shirt at Ormer!
Well done to Ormer for managing to keep them out!
Staff were highly personable and were very wiling to explain and elaborate on the dishes.
The food and wine came to £370 for 2, which in my opinion was really excellent value for the ambience and quality of food.

We dined at Ormer on 25th September 2021 choosing the 6 Course Tasting Menu. The restaurant decor is very nice and welcoming on arrival, it set the scene that you are going to have a very nice dining experience. The staff were very attentive throughout the evening and both understood and catered for my butter / cheese intolerance. The quality of food, its preparation and presentation on the plate was very good, although I would question why would you have back to back game dishes (Pigeon and Quail) as the addition of a beef or lamb dish within the 6 Course Tasting Menu would, in my opinion enhance the experience that little bit higher. The only negative comment I have about our whole dining experience was at 10:15pm, the staff were clearing the tables around both us and the other last remaining table of diners and setting them for breakfast, not what I would have expected from a fine dining establishment. I accept that this hotel restaurant has multiple functionality, but set the tables for breakfast once all diners have finished and left!
