Good pub with a variety of lager, ale and cider. Traditional style pub in St. Paul. Great place to have couple of rounds after work.

I was recently taken here by a friend and was delighted. It is a throw-back to the good old days of 'the local' - not a gastro, no smell of food, no plastic, no music, just a good atmosphere and a selection of very fine beers. A dying breed; but so good to find a survivor. It is also a... More

Very much traditional I believe. Good choice of beers, friendly atmosphere, a lot of locals. Fish and chips is a must. Recommend.

£10 min spend on your card. My pint of Tribute, no idea!!! I have had a few pints of Tribute and visited the Brewery twice where it's produced, it was shocking. But the environment was lively, traditional pub, warm, good old pub. Just the beer was shockingly bad on this occasion. Will I go back, yes I would, but only... More

Lovely little old fashioned pub with bags of character. Not that I am adverse to different nationalities working in London but it was a real pleasant surprise to be served by what sounded like 'locals'. Would definitely recommend a visit if in the area.

A rare quaint old local within central London, ruined by absymal bar staff. Their attitude to some of my friends I haven't actually witnessed in a London bar, pub or restaurant. These guys quite frankly don't care about their customers. They are rude, ignorant and offensive. Avoid this place at all costs.

Waiting patiently to get served here, the barman served others 1st (who just walked in), when I pointed out another gentleman was 1st & then it was us we were met with a terrible attitude "I haven't got eyes in that back of my head" & "if you don't like it leave"! So we left! It was a shame that... More

I first drank here in the eighties. I loved it and the area so much that now I live opposite. The best thing about the pub is Zoe- the landlady. The next best thing is the Timothy Taylor's and the next best thing is the absence of braking bankers from BNY- who use Shaws Booksellers next door. The final virtue... More

Old time boozer, excellent beer options on tap, well priced and does exactly what it says on the tin - must visit in the city pub.

On our tour we hoped to find unusual taverns: this was one such. Part of old London the building shows its age, nothing modern here. The beer was fine, the locals pleasant & the 'landlord' friendly. Only stayed to have a drink & look around. General atmosphere was good although I suspect we visited on a quiet afternoon: might be... More

Staying in City of London

Neighbourhood Profile
City of London
From its ancient past as a Roman trading outpost to its 21st century status as the wealthiest square mile in the world, the financial district known simply as “The City” is one of London's most historic and fascinating neighbourhoods. Here high rise office towers such as Norman Foster’s Gherkin mingle with Roman ruins and architectural marvels from virtually every era in between, including Christopher Wren's glorious St.Paul's Cathedral, and John Soane's dauntingly classicist Bank of England. This neighbourhood is also home to some of the finest restaurants and plushest hotels in Europe, in addition to an assortment of of watering holes, upscale shops, and Tube stations. During the week, the City is abuzz with white collar workers going about their business; the weekend sees this area turn into a quiet haven for sightseers.
