If you want to visit a truly different kind of restaurant for an exiting eating experience then look no further than Gilpin Spice. The staff are so friendly and helpful and the food is simply wonderful. We will certainly be going back.

I took my husband to Gilpin Spice for Fathers Day and although the food was delicious the experience was disappointing. We were asked if we had been before as they have a 'sharing' menu and we said no, the waitress then ran through an explanation...More

A family party of 6 of us ate here to celebrate my 60th birthday. The waiter seemed almost manic with his rushed, garbled welcome to the restaurant. His descriptions of the menu options was lengthy and complex and his accent combined with the speed he...More

Ate twice in Hrishi. There is no doubt the Chef can cook. There were some very accomplished dishes of high skill. Beef main course was a particular highlight. However a few things missed - in part because the portion size was just too small. For...More

Very tasty - reminded me of Dubai like hotels. We chose the taster menu and taster wine selection. I chose the vegetarian and it was fresh and flavoursome. A bit too quiet and quite pricey. I liked the staff = not keen on the price

Easy to see why this restaurant has achieved a Michelin star; service, food & wine were all excellent; we enjoyed the 7 course tasting menu with superbly well matched wine flight.

We went here last night for dinner, we did have to book about 5-6 weeks in advance but it was very good. We booked the Hrishi restaurant and decided on the taster menu, which was presented and tasted beautiful. The staff were wonderful and very...More

The hotel boasts both a Michelin starred dining room and a separate restaurant called spice. Both are amazing. The tasting menu in the dining room is pricey but everything was stunning and the service was perfect. There is a wine flight to buy alongside and...More

The building is fantastic, a really lovely entrance and the three eating rooms look wonderful - we were a group of 4 and were told we couldn't sit in the red room. Each of the food portions were lovely, with exception of the noodles but...More

At the heart of Gilpin is a very passionate family and team, dedicated to creating  lasting memories for their guests, who return time and again for celebrations and escapes. With five stars, one Michelin Star and three AA Rosettes, warmth and friendliness are balanced with extraordinary service, exquisite décor and stunning culinary experiences at these two luxury country houses spanning two estates in the beautiful Lake District.

Dine in either the Michelin starred main restaurant, ‘Hrishi’, where Hrishikesh Desai combines great Lake District produce and classic methods to deliver unbelievable textures and flavours with just a twist of Asia, or in ‘Gilpin Spice’ a new informal restaurant transcending international boundaries, with an open kitchen focussing on dishes from the spice trail spanning the Indian sub-continent, Malaysia, Thailand, Indonesia, the Philippines, Japan and China.

At Gilpin Hotel all of the bedrooms have lovely Lakeland views, most leading directly onto the gardens - 6 Garden Suites with their own cedarwood hot tubs, and 5 fabulous detached Spa Lodges with private ensuite spas (rainmaker showers and steam rooms inside, hydrotherapy hot tubs and saunas outside) for a very special, private experience. Just a mile away at Gilpin Lake House, just 6 suites enjoy exclusive access to 100 acres of grounds, including a stunningly beautiful private lake, boat house, pool, hot-tubs and spa.
