We booked our holiday cottage in the same village only after checking reviews for the pub. Luckily the pub reviews turned out to be a good gauge. In our week stay over Easter in Brigsteer, we ate in the pub several times, all in the evening. Firstly, the staff were welcoming to us and our young dog, setting a bowl... More

We went to the Wheatsheaf Inn twice during our stay in Lake District. Our first visit was for a light dinner on Good Friday night; the place was very very busy and were lucky enough to get a table for two without a reservation. We had a simple pizza with tomato sauce, basil leaf and buffalo mozzarella, which was alright... More

Visited on a busy Saturday evening. A warm welcome at the bar. Good selection of beer and also wine by the glass. Excellent lamb rump special, and mu husband had the pie of the day which was served with excellent chips. We only had a drink and mains. Highly recommended.

Wow, what a refreshing change to find a restaurant that truly welcomes our four legged friends as much as those paying the bill!! Bowl of water and biscuits on arrival made our three dogs feel right at home. I had the vegetarian curry and my wife had the Goats Cheese tart, both were great. If you want good food and... More

We visited on a snowy winters night and walked into a warm pub with a lovely welcome for us and our 2 black Labradors. They even had a plate of dog biscuits on our table. Great food- I had a home made burger and my husband had the lamb shank, pronounced excellent, and nice puds- ice cream and lemon posset.... More

Once again an excellent meal. The celeriac, Apple & wholegrain mustard soup was delicious, braised beef brisket just melted and the apple crumble & ice cream extremely tasty. Couldn't fault the cheerful, friendly and efficient service. All in a cosy, comfortable , relaxing and tastefully decorated pub. Definitely one to visit. Our favourite place to eat.

We popped in by chance last week, but so good we went back this Sunday for my birthday. Genuine, polite professional staff create a real country pub atmosphere with the twist that the food is gastro standard. Properly dog friendly complete with biscuits and water for man/ woman's best friend. All this amid prime walking territory. Couldn't be more impressed.... More

Not much of a choice for vegetarians so I settled for the simple mozzarella pizza - which was absolutely beautiful! So much so I couldn't waste a bite and asked to take what I left home. My partner and family absolutely loved their food including the lamb leg and and the fish pie. I would defiantly recommend booking a table... More

This is a nice pub with a wide range of drinks, good menu and relaxing atmosphere. We were part of a large group and we were pleased to all be served at the same time; it's so annoying when half the people have their meals and the other half is still waiting. Everyone enjoyed their meals and service continued to... More

We've been to the Wheatsheaf at Brigsteer a couple of times but this week was a very special occasion as it was my mother's 90th birthday and there were several generations of us there - in fact 12 of us of all ages - who went for a late lunch. The food and service were both just superb. In fact... More
