Called here with friends for a meal on a rainy Friday night, good range of cask ales and a good selection of pub grub favourites. The steak and ale pie was quite good with plenty of meat packed into a portion of home made tray...More

Last minute hope on a day of driving rain, we descended on this dog friendly pub without much hope of a great meal. We should have had more faith. My chicken pot pie was good, as was the kids chicken curry. The winner - by...More

Our family of 6 popped in for Sunday lunch on recommendation of the visitors book in our holiday cottage! We weren't disappointed. The staff were so friendly and welcoming both in the restaurant and behind the bar. 5 roast beef lunches and a braised beef...More

Like most places in Coniston, it was busy for dinner. The Ship Inn is not in the center of Coniston, but is a good 15-20 minute walk. There is parking but great scenery if you do walk. A variety of traditional food offerings - nothing...More

We stopped in here after a long day walking and were pleased to find a cosy corner inside. The staff were incredibly welcoming and we had a great quality meal along with some (highly recommended) home made pudding. Definitely worth a visit.

Very nice pub. It’s what I’d call a “proper pub”. They seem to be dying out. Only visiting the area and would love to come back. Took our dog inside, friendly staff. WiFi available. Didn’t come for food but the menu looks good.

Recently visited the Ship Inn and thought it was pretty great. Decent looking country pub, fair priced beer and the Ed Sheeran lookalike was hilarious. 10/10 would recommend

Friendly and efficient service, but nothing particularly special about the menu. Great to sit outside in the sun and eat!

Lovely little pub, large group of us all called in for a drink and a little bite to eat. Those who ate said the food was scrummy and the beer wasn't too badly priced. The Ed Sheeran lookalike bar man was a funny chap who...More

The Ship is a pub, so I think they'd justifiably be upset if you did, but Sara's currry restaurant and The Steam Bistro in Coniston both allow you to BYOB.
