We had a really lovely mid week anniversary meal at Quince and Medlar. I'm a vegetarian and my husband isn't and he was a little anxious about it, but he totally loved his meal.

We have been coming to the Q and M since its early days. It always provides an excellent evening with superb, imaginative, cooking in a delightful atmosphere with friendly, efficient, service. Louisa and Colin can be justly proud of their restaurant and the quality they consistently deliver, to vegetarians and omnivores. Who needs meat? At the Q and M the... More

We rarely visit lakeland these days but when we do a trip to Quince and Medlar is an absolute must. Colin and Louisa , the owners have been running this gene for well over twenty years and it just gets better, The food evolves and you simply can't fault it. If it were within the M 25 it would have... More

We had a lovely, chilled evening at the Quince and Medlar. My partner does not usually go for vegetarian meals, but I persuaded him to try it, and he loved his meal, a delicious aubergine wrap. I had the butter bean, leek and mushroom dish which was tasty and different. The service was so friendly, and the ambience was warm... More

As with a lot of the previous reviewers I am not a vegetarian but the entire experience here from start to finish was fantastic. Small place, only 8 or 9 tables, but they really look after those tables. Drinks and canapés in the lounge room to start, warm homemade bread and lovely indulgent veggie dishes (yes, they do exist -... More

We had been recommended this restaurant for our visit to the Lake District over Easter this year - I am SO glad we listened! We aren't vegetarian, but do generally eat quite a lot of vegetarian food as part of our diet, but nothing as absolutely delicious and amazing as this wonderful little restaurant. I cannot recommend it enough! My... More

Although not a vegiterian I enjoy excellent quality food and the food at Quince and Medlar is wonderful. I was not familiar with the items on the menu but the presentation and taste were great. This small family run restruarnt has a friendly atmosphere. I would advise booking.

Everything was outstanding; the food was impeccably presented and tasted incredible, the service was attentive and the food came promptly. They've thought of every minute detail right down to the handwritten calligraphy on the bill. Absolutely delightful.

Can't believe we have been vegetarian for over 30 years and have been regular visitors to The Lakes for even longer but have never come across Quince and Medlar before. Quite simply - this place is lovely. The cosy setting is wonderful, the menu amazingly imaginative (toasted oatmeal ice cream - stroke of genius) and the attention to detail and... More

I only reserve 5 star ratings for the outstandingly good restaurants. For someone that isn't vegetarian this might seem strange ! Whilst the food is obviously the most important, the whole experience is excellent. You are greeted in a front room while you can have a drink while you decide what to have. The choices are quite small, but plenty... More
