We visited the Bitter End on Saturday evening but all tables were booked so we booked a table for the Sunday evening. When we arrived we were pointed to a table near the door in the bar area and when I asked if a table in the rear dining room was possible, I was told abruptly by a female member... More

We visited The Bitter End Pub in April on Saturday 20th April. The staff could not do enough to accommodate us, originally we planned to visit with our dog and a reservation was made with her in mind. An hour before we were due to arrive we decided to push the reservation back and they were happy to oblige. When... More

This is the 3rd time now we have visited here & we have always been warmly welcomed by the excellent trained staff. The food menu has an excellent choice suitable for all palettes & never fails to please. This is a little gem & is a must if visiting quaint cockermouth!

We booked a table for six for 8pm and, because we arrived early, our more than one hour wait to get to a table felt very long indeed. But the thirty five minute overtime was unfortunate. Our order was eventually taken at the bar and our six meals did arrive, all together, within minutes of us sitting down, Whilst I... More

I first visited this pub several years ago and remembered it for having its own micro-brewery at the back. That appears to have gone now but the food and the beer itself were as good as before. Big portions and pretty reasonably priced. Nice atmosphere.

This is a good pub for both food and beer. Book at the weekends and holidays though as it gets busy. Locals and tourists mingle here.

We found this place by sheer accident, trying to find our bearings around Cockermouth! Although they were fully booked for the evening service, a table were running late so a lovely member of staff said we could sneak in!! Great range of dishes on offer and quick service. I had Cajun Chicken Burger which was lovely and my husband had... More

We fell across this place by accident really, walking down the high street in Cockermouth with our two dogs and saw this pubs sign, "dog friendly" so thought to give it a go....great little pub! Decent selection of drinks (Brewdog, so i was happy) dogs settled well next to the fire and was a thoroughly enjoyable experience! Staff were really... More

Normally very happy with roast dinner here on Sunday. However, both our mains were really poor. Fish n chips: dried inedible and black eyed chips dried Chicken burger rubbish in wife's opinion. Her score was worse than mine Service was fine, but when paying I decided to be truthful and responded very poor and described both mains. An opportunity to... More
