Visited for afternoon tea in between Christmas and New Year with friends, one of which was here from New York and this their first experience of afternoon tea in this country. The quality and choice of cakes was poor, scones were dry and sandwiches were not replenished, very unusual considering the price. One positive good selection of tea. Staff were... More

Lovely fresh sandwiches cakes and scones were enjoyed by our entire party. There were a variety of teas to choose from, although one tea bag per pot (which serves 3 cups) was a bit of a surprise. Once we had finished tea, we were not offered any additional sandwiches or cakes which is unusual when you go out for afternoon... More

We had a family lunch of 16 people and the service was out of this world. Food and staff were wonderful. Can't rate this hotel high enough. Thank you Richard (manager)for all your hospitality.

We have visited here for a few company xmas meals. The service is always outstanding. The scenery is beautiful and for a minute when relaxing with your colleagues, work is not thought about. The garden view is refreshing whilst eating. The xmas decor is special and different. Large car parking area. Welcomed in by a door man. You do feel... More

Nine of us went for Sunday lunch, celebrating our parent's wedding anniversary. We sat in the lounge area for drinks before our meal and had Pimms. After waiting for some considerable time, the drinks were served but tasted awful. We complained, and they confessed there was something wrong with the lemonade, suggesting they knew this before they even served them.... More

We went as a family for afternoon tea to celebrate our mother's 80th birthday, the hotel is stylish and as close to Christmas had beautiful decorations in the foyer and eating areas, we were booked for 3.30pm and arrived at 3, we were seated immediately and chose whether to have cream tea, full tea or champagne tea, we chose a... The £12.50 cream tea is a great value indulgence in classy surroundings. Scones, cakes and trimmings all well up to scratch and obviously made freshly on the premises. Service was attentive and helpful. Decor a bit like a Miss Marple set.

Lovely setting and an old world feel. We were about 14 for lunch in a large room near the entrance. As we were seated drinks were offered and arrived quickly. Looked like a full menu selection was available to us so everyone was accommodated. Food was modern British presented very well and of excellent quality. Service equally as good and... More

We spent the first night of our honeymoon at St Michael's Manor many years ago, so thought it would be fitting to celebrate our 25th Wedding Anniversary at the Lake Restaurant. As vegetarians I checked the menu in advance to check there was something for us, and it all sounded very nice. However, it is safe to say the place... More

Exceptional service and fantastic food, beef fillet Rossini was pure perfection. Presentation, taste and flavours of all dishes outstanding. Highly recommend. Staff are friendly, can't do enough for you and attentive without being intrusive. Going back very soon!

Description
Our beautiful orangery-style Lake Restaurant offers amazing views overlooking our fabulous garden and lake. Two rosette dining at it's best.

Offering a range of award winning modern British cuisine to suit all tastes, diners can choose from an A La Carte or Lake menu. The latter provides brasserie-style seasonal food, changed on a fortnightly basis from only £18 for two or £22 for three courses.

A wonderful place to celebrate and very popular for Sunday lunch. Great to relax and enjoy a delicious meal with probably the best views and location in Hertfordshire.

The Lake Restaurant opens daily for breakfast, lunch and dinner. Otherwise try a bar snack or one of our famous Afternoon teas in the hotel lounge.
