Must have been to Koh-I-Noor 100-150 times (lost count) and on every occasion, without exception, the food has been exceptional - that's quite an achievement. The staff, led by Nasar and Helal, are always friendly and good natured. The meat Momo starter is delicious, lamb madras excellent - just the right amount of spice and the combination of spices, flavours... More

I have been eating here for 25 years. The Manager is lovely and the take always fine. Unfortunately the restaurant is badly run and the meals are very mediocre. Tonight we had a sweepstake on how long the main courses would take to arrive and even the most cynical lost out. One of the wine glasses had a joke printed... More

I've been eating at the Kohinoor since coming to live in St. Albans in 1983, and the restaurant never lets me down. Nasr and his staff are charming, always welcoming and friendly. The food is excellent, sensible, not vast portions, delicate, carefully spiced tastes. Veer away from the 'standard' Indian dishes, ask advice, and you won't be disappointed!

Went on a Saturday evening, the restaurant was 2/3 full and had space for us without reservation. The food selection was extensive, probably too big, so I knew that nothing was likely to be that special. But the food was good enough. No compliants but no hurrah either. The service was a bit tardy, but maybe they were a little... More

Dropped in for dinner for the first time in a couple of years and we were glad that we had . A warm welcome followed by discreet and attentive service and delicious food. Incredible reshmi kebabs, a spicy ceylon, rice, naan and vegetable dishes. Why did we leave it so long? Back next week! Give this place a go. I'm... More

I have been to this restaurant a few times some 1.5 years ago with the family and it was OK, however went a few weeks back with the wife and have to say it was not a great experience. The place smelt a little odd, like they had some sort of damp. The food was OK, however nothing to write... More

By far the best secret Indian restaurant in St Albans. Lovely staff and happy to make any dish that isn't on the menu. Lovely, kind and friendly staff. TOTALLY recommend it. Never seen it busy but such a shame because it totally should be every night! (But maybe it's great that it isn't!)

Dropped in for a curry with a German colleague to this restaurant where I have been before, but should have walked straight out when we saw only one other person eating?? The food was okay and very large portions but the person serving us was completely missing the concept of service. We couldn't wait to pay and leave, without any... More
