Went to The Green Dragon for lunch today after a walk around London Colney. The welcome, atmosphere and meal were all superb. The kitchen went out of its way to accommodate my mum's requests and brought out the most delicious lunches that couldn't be faulted....Thank you so much. We will definitely be returning.More

Booked a table for Sunday lunch but upon arrival were told they’ve sold out of everything except lamb shank, so that’s what we ordered as all they sell on Sundays is Sunday lunch so no other option. We sat outside and the miserable young waitress...brought out one plate at a time even though the plates weren’t hot she couldn’t manage two! There was no gravy on the meal so I said to her can we have gravy because as you can see there isn’t any on our plates and some salt and pepper please. She brought out salt and the smallest boiling hot “thimble “ of gravy. I said that wouldn’t cover one meal yet alone three, so she huffed and went back and brought a jug, she really looked like she didn’t want to be there. I don’t know whether it was because they’d sold out of food but the roast potatoes were the frozen variety, piping hot but bland and tasteless. The Sunday lunches before were lovely with goose fat potatoes, but not anymore they were horrible, the vegetables seemed fresh but tasteless. Overall not very nice and sadly won’t be going back.More

We arrived at the pub and waited 40 minutes for our food, and this was our starter, we ordered the garlic bread with cheese.. we then waited another 20 minutes for our mains, three pies. One turned up completely frozen in the middle and they...were all tasteless... we were offered another pie but had to wait 20 minutes for the new one to come out, they seemed to have forgotten and continuously asked us if the pie had come out when it clearly hadn’t. We were also offered complimentary drinks, but most of us were drinking soft drinks and would equate to the disappointment we had faced with the service and food... we thought we’d be offered a refund for the frozen meal at least, but again we were offered a complimentary dessert... the fact that a refund was not even offered, made the situation of even thinking of it awkward, we were made to feel like we were lying on top of this. Honestly, we are very disappointed... this is my local pub and have been there many times before and never experience anything like this. I will unfortunately not be returning here again, which is a real shame.More

Went for a Sunday lunch with my husband and friend. No warm open fire, the bar areas were cold. No shining horse brasses, but tatty flags pinned to the ceiling. The heart has been removed from this historic, quaint and once friendly pub. We all...ordered three roast beef lunches. The beef was pleasant enough, but the vegetables were plonked on the plates and were watery, overcooked and luke warm. Not very pleasant gravy had been poured all over the plates. The meals were not very tasty and very small portions. We had to get our lunches microwaved but that did little to improve our meals. To add insult to injury I tendered a £20 voucher that had been given to me for Christmas. Embarrassingly, the staff refused to accept this as the pub is under new management. The Manager stated she would liaise with the former licensee with regard to how many vouchers were purchased and to negotiate a settlement. I was promised by the Manager that she would get back to me with the result . She took my telephone number, but six weeks later, I have heard nothing. My husband, our friend and I have not returned nor will we.More

We have been to this pub many times over the years, and went for lunch today for the first time since new owners took over. We had a lovely lunch, a sharer dish with loads of really tasty bits, and more than enough for the...two of us, at a really reasonable price. Extremely friendly and warm staff, who made us feel very welcome, nothing was too much trouble. Will definitely be back, and would thoroughly recommend!More

We have been visiting the Green Dragon for a Saturday night meal on a semi-regular basis for years. On Thursday we phoned to book our favorite table on the bar side for last night at 8 pm. When we turned up we noticed that the...decor had changed, music was very loud and none of the friendly usual staff was around. We went to the unmanned bar to order a drink to have with our meal and had to wait for over five minutes for someone to appear. When we mentioned our booking we were advised that they had none in our name and that the kitchen closes at 8 which made us query whether the place was under new management. This was confirmed. When we expressed our disappointment we were told that the drinks we had ordered would be on the house. We politely declined and left. We are unlikely to be back.More

An enjoyable pint and dinner in a nice location. Previously ownership didn’t offer half the atmosphere now available. New kitchen manager providing top quality food and giving a great reason to leave the M25 early and to not have to travel into London for good...food at a reasonable price.More
