The breakfasts here are outstanding- all the elements are prepared from scratch and were very tasty. Slightly pricey, however worth it for homemade, wholesome baked beans and buttery mushrooms. The porridge is a must too!! It is different to have breakfast in a 'pub' setting, however this definitely appeals to the masculine aesthetic and is quite refreshing. The atmosphere is... More

If you want to enjoy wholesome, gastro pub food that isn't fancy then look no further then No. 5 Bridge Street. Great selection of wines and beer to enjoy along with a hearty lunch or casual dinner. No. 5 doesn't pretend to be anything that it's not e.g. up-market or fine dining - we enjoyed a bowl of 'Pesto Pasta... More

I recently visited and was surprised that they introduced a new fun menu. Me and my friend thought we would give it a go. Sadly while the new tapas menu sounds great it's a poor experience and really rather expensive. Food comes out when ready which leaves you with a jumble of plates being thrown out left right and centre,... More

No5 used to be one of my favourite places to eat in Winchester. Proper gastro pub and decent value. Alas they have introduced this new grazing menu concept (a British tapas). While at a ground level some of the dishes are nice enough most are a bit of a stretch (fairly over cooked pork belly cubes in squid ink for... More

My friend who lives in Winchester booked us a table for four here as everywhere else was fully booked (week before Xmas). The bar/pub entrance was warm and welcoming and even though my bf and I turned up half hour early, our table was ready. The friendly barman recommended a delicious drink based on what I asked for (gin and... More

I returned this month with the same group of friends and we were looking forward to sampling the grazing menu. Sadly, none of us enjoyed the experience. Our table was in the top bar and was extremely noisy. We were served bread, oils and homous which were good, but then random dishes appeared, on 4 plates, which was awkward for... More

Had the most amazing Rosemary gins here. Nice atmosphere, bar staff were lovely, and have eaten here on several occasions and have never been disappointed.

We have just eaten at No 5 Bridge Street. Having eaten here before we raved about the food to our friends and organised a Christmas meal for 4. Upon arrival we were given the new menu! To our disappointment it was a 'grazing menu'... a small and poncey collection of random, over priced dishes with a weird combination of foods...... More

This is a bar with a really lovely restaurant area. The food menu is really unusual and much more high end than I was expecting for what I thought could be a Gastro pub. Very reasonable and great service too.

We had dined her last December and, since our visit, they had changed they dining experience. Similar to a tapas bar, the food was to be shared and each dish arrived as it was cooked. The food was excellent and each dish beautifully fresh. The staff were really friendly. We were surprised by the change to the menu but delighted... More
