Travellers' Choice
One of the area's most friendly, and welcoming Italian restaurants, Piccolo Mondo 1 is the oldest in the city, having been established since 1969.Piccolo Mondo is open for lunch and evening meals. With seating for only 34 people, it is small enough to have an intimate atmosphere, but also welcomes families. There is a good choice of value for money meals including authentic pizzas and pastas, together with a selection of fish, meat and vegetarian dishes, and not forgetting their home-made bread and desserts. Smaller sized meals are available for children. Parties of up to 25 people can be catered for

We booked this restaurant partially on the menu choice and largely on the reviews here. Unfortunately, we had the worst experience of eating out for quite some time. Firstly, whilst some may describe this place as cosy - we can only say it was uncomfortable....If you like people brushing past you every few minutes, a noisy place where you can't hear your co-diners, and an environment that cannot be Covid safe, then maybe this is the place for you. At other times, we probably would have left before we sat down. We should have. The food was mediocre at best - for instance the tiramisu had all the right textures but someone forgot to add any flavouring. We haven't tasted such a bland offering for ...I am not sure ever. The only plus point was the excellent friendly service but given our discomfort and the mediocre food it didn't do a lot to help. Not recommended.More

Absolutely perfect! Our slightly rowdy group of 7 were looked after impeccably with friendly, fun and professional service. The food was incredibly delicious and portions were huge. Grazie a tutti! Highly recommended.

This is exactly the type of restaurant I want to eat at, busy, friendly service and an authentic family run sort of place. Much better than the big chains. It’s only so small so would recommend booking. We all had excellent food and if ever...in Southampton again will go back.More

What a charming authentic place to eat, we booked for lunch, had antipasto miso for 1 as told it would be enough for 2 ! However, we couldn't eat it all. The service was exceptional she was very helpful, had the tagliatelle a la creme...taste delicious one if the best ive eaten, all freshly cooked and pipping hot. Grazie moltoMore

Myself and my wife were visiting Southampton to attend a show at the Mayflower theatre which is a very handy 10 minute walk from the restaurant. This lovely traditional Italian, serving delicious generously portioned food at very reasonable prices, served by lovely courteous staff. Visiting...here was a lovely part of our day, thank you.More

This really is a hidden gem in Southampton. I would recommend booking even on a weeknight as the venue is so intimate it fills up quick! It really feels like you're transported to Italy for an evening, the food is fresh and delicious and the...staff are so warm and accomodating. Would definitely recommend if you're after a casual but romantic date night.More

Firstly they were happy to accommodate my daughter who has a peanut allergy, they spoke to me about this and we felt at ease with her eating here. It’s hard to find places happy to cater for allergies and I feel this is a massive...strong point of our visit. The service was great, staff were welcoming and friendly. The menu had lots of choice and all sounded delicious. We were all very happy with our meals and most definitely will be backMore
